I'm not sure that I agree with you about Roy's lack of ambition as it's my belief that he is carrying out Parish's prime directive as best he can with limited resources

The adrenaline rush and excitement that come from the one off games the author cites come through a process of playing throughout a season - for the relief and joy of the Wednesday game we had to be crap all through the rest of the season - not much enjoyment there!
On the other hand play off victory is a reward for a season well campaigned. What I think the author is saying is that the excitement and anticipation of these games is sorely lacking in the PL. Indeed given the nature of the beast, how could it be any different? Aiming to avoid relegation has been our lot for 8 seasons now. It's the same for the teams around us. The players know it but are amply compensated. It's all a bit of a charade.

I can’t remember how I celebrated away goals in the house back then. Was it with the same ‘’Oh we’ve scored’’ as now, knowing there’d be more goals for both sides unlike no attacks for the rest of the game now? Or did I properly celebrate and then couldn’t get over 3 more goals in the last few minutes?

The only way Palace will grow is to be in the Prem. More people around the world know of Palace than they did nine years ago. Best wayy to attract local UK and Croydon area kids is to play and beat the top 6. Wonder what the 3-3 with Liverpool did to our standing?

I think someone referenced the “Norwich model” on a different thread A couple of weeks ago (might have been Viabow) as a realistic way of running Palace and when I thought about it I kinda thought (in the absence of a new Billionaire owner) it wouldn’t be the end of the world.
But having secured Premier League stability- it’s a difficult thing to give up. I know we all moan when we lose, most fans across the country do, but overall I had been satisfied with our lot up until this season. I think it simply boils down to the fact that I just want to see us play better football more often than not.
For me that starts and ends with the right manager and I really don’t think it’s anymore complicated than that.

The squad needs a refresh/overhaul but what’s the point loading the Bench with new players when the manager doesn’t play them?

Clearly there is a risk of relegation in a change from Roy - but there’s also a risk of that if we keep him!

The smart move imo is for the next manager to have the experience and tools to bounce back up, if the worst were to happen just like Norwich have done this season. I reckon a fair few fans would accept that.

Watching man.c is f***ing boring, I only watch Palace play and perhaps others who's results will affect our standing, I watched the FA cup final only because I wanted to see Chelsea lose because I hate them more, I'd definitely enjoy the Championship more then this crap league and only hoped with being here we'd be able to improve our ground, what a laugh that is.
