It is a scientific fact, that generally speaking Women are neither as fast (100m world record) or as strong as men (weightlifting records). They are statistically speaking generally shorter than men. With that in mind shouldnt the pitch be smaller, and the goals smaller to accomodate this? When I watch womens football (which is not that often) it is noticeable that they fail to clear the ball as far, cannot shoot from same distance, and let in goals that would have been saved by a professional male goalkeeper. Equality sounds great. But in practice it's often the opposite of meritocracy. I'm fine with women's sport, and I'm with men's sport helping it a bit with the fiscals....but equality? You know that's what's going to be pushed....as usual common sense is at the back holding his hand up but being ignored. Helping women's sport is one thing but I'm not so cool with its artificial promotion. As rightly stated most women aren't into sport and this is cheap and tick boxes for the 'woke' media corporations. Stop giving them your money. Edited by Stirlingsays (30 Sep 2021 11.47am)

Exactly this. The Women's game won't improve until they have stadiums built for women's football. The physical stature of the women is probably equal to Academy boys U14 or U15 at most and they don't play on full sized pitches or use full size goals - condense the pitch size and goals and the women's game and speed of game will improve dramatically

I know England’s men play some poor teams, but I watched a bit of our women against North Macedonia and Luxembourg recently and they were unbelievably bad. In fact I only kept watching for the comedy value they were that bad.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

I agree wholeheartedly with the general thrust of the comments. Women's football is awful and the way it is being promoted really pretty silly. There are sports that women can play well which would make much better TV, so why football, and rugby, which they cannot? It's just so boring. Beach volley ball captures both the thrills, and the aesthetics, and doesn't look contrived at all, so let's have a Women's BV Premier League. You would to need to be super fit, in every sense, to succeed. If that fails to meet the kind of acceptable broadcasting standards that put an end to Miss World, then why not my own sport, bowls? Women can be every bit as good as the men, and don't need to be young and fit, although some top players are. It's super skilful and highly competitive. Remember how we all get hooked on the women's curling at the Winter Olympics? It's not so different.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |
