I believe that planning permission has been granted By Croydon Council and the Mayor of London has rubber stamped this as well. CPFC still have to rehouse the residents in Wooderson Close (compensation and moving costs have been agreed with the Council, not sure about the residents themselves?) Compulsory purchase does not have to take years. There will be long established cases of the value of loss of parking relative to a retail store so the loss to Sainsburys can be easily calculated. It won’t be a huge sum and once the valuers realise that then an offer under threat of CPO plus sweetener could seal the deal reasonably quickly. Sainsburys have nothing to gain from being a stick in the mud on this one. A longer term option of a new Whitehorse stand with store beneath could well be lurking in the background anyway.

Maybe the price was aready agreed. I am having an extension built now which I signed up for 3 months ago. The price is still the same because the contract was signed back then, irrespective of supply issues or inflation.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'New Stand' by Penge Eagle Hopefully it will get built by 2025; long overdue redevelopment of the main stand. On a personal note, I would have liked two glass-effect towers at either end which could have housed the floodlights, thereby retaining a more appropriate image of the original Crystal Palace.
hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing. |

This post has been merged from a topic called 'New Stand' by Penge Eagle I hear that a builder has been appointed his name is Dave and he will start once he finishes a couple of conservatories in Selsdon and a kitchen installation in Cheam. He works with his brother Steve and they should be finished with the new stand ready for the start of our celebration for 200 years in existence.

If material prices go up so does the price of the job. Clear examples are look at a few stadiums Tottenham 400m it ended up costing them around billion. Wembley was close to the same as Tottenham it ended up being around 800m Liverpools stand suppose to be 60m it ended up being around 110m

Perhaps this could be a rare occasion where you are right on Palace talk.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'New Stand' by Penge Eagle The best bit of building we could do is to build a massive brick wall across all entrances to Sainsbury's! I wish we never had that god awful supermarket there in the first place, as they will hold firm now and create many issues for any future plans to expand. I have never and will never go in that place as a matter of principle. I am lucky enough to remember our ground before they were let in, and I can now only dream of those days returning.
Some people are like Slinkies … not really good for anything, but you can’t help smiling when you see one tumble down the stairs. |
