I think CG has made a big mistake.

He wants to play for Chelsea and England, he should ask Chelsea to go on loan to palace until January.

He would be guaranteed a first team place with us and if he performed well would go to the World Cup. Then in January he could assess the situation go back to Chelsea or stay with us until the end of the season.

The risk he runs now is that he is not a regular and so doesn't go to the world cup.

One more point

I am admitting in advance that I did not watch the previous match, rumors is he played well.
I live in Charlotte and watched the match last night and frankly CG looked like a fish out of water last night in the 2nd half. I don't know if it was because he was allowed more freedom under PV but he was a completely different player.
I was worried for my home team because I did not know who could cover him but he looked little like the CG we all know and love.
It was hard to not feel bad for him.

I am not saying he did not make some good plays.
He just does not have the edge he played with and swagger, especially that he showed in the first half of the season last year.

There were times I thought he was best on the pitch last year for Palace against the best of the best. He was playing against what is mostly Charlotte's second choice players last night with the exception of Jozwiak (formerly or Derby County) and Shinyashiki. Everyone else was second or even third choice for the Crowns.

Chelsea were totally outplayed by Arsenal in Florida yesterday and battered 4-0 in front of their new owner, Boehly. Who must be wondering why he just spent £4bn on them. Conor played the first half and was ineffective other than hacking down Bakary Saka a few times. I think the Chelsea fans are supportive of Conor but Tuchel had to cover the embarrassment of a deserved thrashing in front of his boss by complaining about the lack of talented players in his squad and wants new signings.

I agree. I don't think a final decision has been made (by Tuchel) yet either way and as I've said before, I think we'll be keeping our powder dry when it comes to spending money on an attacking midfielder until Connor is definitively ruled either in or out. I'd also say Gallagher's chances of remaining at Chelsea are probably marginally lower today than they were two weeks ago at the start of pre-season, too.

I'd guess that whatever decision is made, it will come at some point towards the end of this week. Pre-season is now more or less in its final stretch and I'd imagine managers are now at the point where they've either decided or are close to deciding who they want in their squads and who they'll let go.

For Chelsea, I imagine Connor is on the bubble. I think Tuchel was prepared to give him a chance to win a regular shirt; so far in preseason, he hasn't really taken it. There's no way he's Chelsea starter material; that seems clear. So it may come down to whether he's prepared to play a fairly marginal role at Chelsea or whether a repeat of last season with us is preferable. If he's serious about the World Cup, that's a pretty easy choice.

I think the odds remain in favour of him staying at Chelsea, but I think there's more than a minimal chance of him coming back. I'd put it around 65-35. He's far from "almost certain" to remain at Stamford Bridge in my view.

In your opinion ! In my opinion i think we lacked the high up the field pressing that he brings to the game and the energy he brings to the midfield , Okay he cant keep it up forever . I think it all depends on the price and wether its a loan or purchase. Patrick seems to think he is that good also .

I like Conor he’s very busy and would be an asset to us but he’s not anywhere near a top 4/6 player and I don’t think he ever will be he’s probably a palace saints level player

He is 22 and a half and has yet to play a minute in the league for Chelsea. His pre-season performances do not suggest he will add to that, though midfield may not be Chelsea's hiring priority

That first half of last season may be a purple patch he will never replicate in his career. Having said that, I think he would still be a useful addition if he can co-exist with Doucoure and Eze. He'd probably come at a similar fee to Gibbs-White who is almost exactly the same age and, probably, ability

For me he's not a starter will spend a lot of time on the bench
