Olise really is f***ing superb. Far too good for us. He stands out like a sore thumb more and more. You can count on one hand the times he gives the ball away in the middle third, and that's per month. Receiving the ball with your back to the play under pressure is very hard. Ayew gets his body in and falls down for a free kick, even Zaha used to slow the play right down, using his strength to wrestle with defenders, but it's nothing to Olise. He slips away like water, progresses the ball very often, and always has his head up looking for forward runs. No surprise at all that he was ice cool in finding Ayew when the opportunity arrived. Absolute class.

To be critical I wish we were more proactive. Many passes out of defence go to a marked player because that player is set on man-marking. We need to find space in the midfield. We can't go on relying on opponents' mistakes for our meagre tally of goals. Perhaps Eze will be our salvation, providing our cautious manager brings him on in time to make his mark. More likely he will try and defend the lead which might prove fatal.

Even on a yellow, I wouldn't have taken Hughes off just yet. Fine if you put on Eze soon afterwards, but Hughes was having a good game.
