Southgate?? Yes you have lots of players who come from the academy and who play in the first team at Palace but thats because you are a championship side!! Not whether some flash Russian billionaire is prepared to throw huge amounts of money, that probably rightfully belongs to the people of Russia, at his own personal plaything and buy in success. Despite its success in terms of silverware Chelsea now represents the stripping away of decent values in the game and I was once happy to watch the blues in the 70s and 80s.

In fact, most of the foreigners who we bought in when we went up turned out to be s*! Ventola, Lakis, Kolkka was alright, but he didn't stick around when we went down. Even Speroni was s* when he first came! The best players for us that season were Johnson, Hughes, Routledge, and Kiraly. Oh, Rihallati was a decent player I suppose. And we have bought many foreigners who have been great and loved the club. You mention Poyet earlier and, of course Zola, but there are loads. My point is dont just assume they are all mercenaries! Speroni has made almost 300 appearances for you and aki riihillahti made 157. Bit harsh!! And we have bought many foreigners who have been great and loved the club. You mention Poyet earlier and, of course Zola, but there are loads. My point is dont just assume they are all mercenaries!
