Can you explain why it is selfish of a person to want to stay working in the job he loves doing for as long as he can, when he can still do it better than most people ?

If you love the job so much why are you waiting until the end of the season to even open talks about a new deal that makes no sense.

That is selfishness its all about him.

Oh Lordy! I wasn’t saying Roy isn’t fully committed to Palace - it wasn’t a comment about Roy at all.

Simply that we are a decent club, with a good set up and scope to grow so our NEXT manager should have the same hunger and desperation for our job as Moyes had for the West Ham job.

He has shown in signings like Dawson and the Czech lads that it’s not all about money - right man, at the right club, at the right time is a significant factor too.

Again before people start crying about Roy - I fully acknowledge he has been that man for us for the last 4 years.

But the fact is he won’t be for the next 4 years - so don’t we have to look to the future?

Eh?
It's not up to Roy to open talks is it? It's the clubs decision.

We do. Got to bite the bullet some time. Personally I think Wilf going is a much bigger factor than Roy. If Wilf said I’ll stay if Roy stays, that might be a different matter. Can’t see it mind.

Ha, it's not as if Hodgson hasn't dropped enough subtle hints about how he wants to carry on in management and how he'll give it up when he feels it's time is it?

I suggest you go back and listen to Roy speaking he has mentioned this a few times now he is not open to talk about any contract related matters until end of the season the club clearly knows about this and I expect they wanted to talk about it and he told them this.

clubs are not going to wait until someones deal expires before talking to them its a business you have models in place for the future you dont run it by day to day

But you don't KNOW do you ? It's just something that you clearly want to believe.

The decision to offer a contract is what is key here. And that's down to Parish. And I would like to think that in his mind he knows whether he will be or not.

Its for the club to offer the contracts, and Palace haven't offered one to Roy (yet).

In the many interviews I've seen, Roy has said that he accepts the approach Palace are taking, and is happy enough with it. He even went so far as to say that he was easy either way regarding whether he stays on, but was perfectly clear that he expects all staff and players with uncertain futures to remain fully committed and professional. Which is everything we can hope for from a manager in his position, if not possibly a little more.

Really not sure how you've turned that into Roy being selfish.

Speculation abounds with differences in the 'Mood music'.
I believe it will be as clear as the 'Aurora Borealis' in the not too distant future.

Come on Roy doesn't play mind games if the club had not tried to talk to him he would of said that or mentioned its up to the club if they want to keep him etc he said neither he mentioned about himself deciding.

People are really lacking in brain functions in here Roy clearly stated he wont discus anything to do with contract so how can club offer anything when he has said he has no interest in getting into it so any offers can only be done at end of the season when he is open to listening if he wants to continue.

It's very simple to follow.

So you think its not selfish for a guy to wait until his contract expires before willing to open up talks about it this holds you back as a business you need to know in advance the direction you are going in.

Last season with 10 games remaining, it was announced that Mr Hodgson had signed a contract for a further season.
At that juncture we had attained 39 pts and virtually safe.

Any comment of that type is plainly to preserve his own dignity. He is working every day in a world where everyone knows his contract is running out, he hasn't been offered a new one, and hasn't heard from the club on the subject yet. What would you say in those circumstances?

When (or if) the club decide they would like to discuss extending his contract, then it will of course be open to Roy to decide how he wishes to proceed, but he isn't in that position yet, and may never be. He can't do anything but accept that fact.
