Probably to get his replacement in from the small pool of suitable managers before we nick the best one What, to a club destined for the EFL? Not many top managers prepared to take that on I imagine.

Stevie G as our new manager?? Apparently not as he would not wish to leave a very successful Rangers to manage a side generally involved in avoiding the drop year on year. Stevie G never said any of this. However, I would be very surprised if he didn't think this. They are doing well in the Europa. Why not have a bash at the ECL next season with the Ibrox faithful in full voice. I would rather that than manage a mid/lower-table premiership team, wouldn't you?

Sheff Utd U23 manager Paul Heckingbottom who has managerial experience with Barnsley,Leeds and Hibernian will be taking up the 'Reins' but whether he will end up permanent manager remains to be seen.

Leicester managed to get Rogers as they can pay him more, and have potential to get regular European football. Plus, there were no challenges left at Celtic. Gerrard isn't short of a bob or two, so money is most likely motivated by success. Repeating his championship win at Ranger's and having a crack in the Champions League are a much more interesting prospect for him at the moment. Rangers fans will be currently wondering just how far the clubs leadership will be able to take them. It's exciting times for them. Maybe if he gets bored or there is a fall out at management level he might leave, but that not likely for at least another 12 months. After Sheffield United's performance against us this season, I wouldn't touch Wilder.

As for Wilder - no thanks. If we are going to replace Hodgson then I want someone with better credentials than Wilder and a better grasp of what it takes to progress in the PL.

Everything will depend on finances, nothing else matters if we don't have any.

Howe would appear to be the better option: If Hodgson's contract is not renewed (for whatever reason) then I would be happy for Howe to come. He knows what the PL is about having been in it with Bournemouth for 5 years and his 'rest' will have done him good and I suspect he will have learned from his mistakes. I would be surprised if he wanted to go to Sheffield Utd, unless Palace isn't an option for him for some unknown reason.

If this is how Lampard operates, then keep him away from Palace.

Players who take the p*ss will soon be found out and benched. I'm surprised at Frank his uncle Harry was known for his people management skills. He let Paul Merson stay in the Midlands whilst playing for Portsmouth, Merson said he would just turn up on playing day. You can get away with being a martinet for a while but it is never a good long term strategy. Ferguson was not the monster that the media made him out to be. Plenty of players have said how supportive he was when they had problems you only got the hairdryer when you were bang out of order most of the time it was the arm around the shoulder.
