So you correctly have a formal process and can’t just deduct someone a days wages.

Tuchel clearly thought it significant and there’s little comparison between a Premier League dressing room and most other places of work. To be honest I’ve rarely considered many footballers role models.

Neither have I but many kids do and if they think it's cool to show disrespect for rules, it creates a poor society.

To bring it back to the thread topic, I'd be surprised if Roy dealt out fines at Palace. He expressed his disappointment when Luka engaged in abject t***tery in New year lock down, but also said that discipline was ultimately for the club to address.

I think he considers himself far more a coach than a manager, partly due to Palace having a dof model, but mostly because he is a training ground, tracksuit kind of guy and has worked that way throughout his career, particularly abroad. I'd think Tuchel is the same, wholly interested in the coaching and not at all in the big picture management.

It's things like fines, contract discussions, transfer strategy etc that seem to sit outside of Roy's remit, and whilst he seems happy with that, others might be less so. Lampard obviously wanted control.

There's no right way to do it. The current model will have allowed Roy to maintain a good relationship with Zaha when the club declined arsenal's bid, as Roy had nothing to do with it, but also leaves the club's direction in the hands of someone other than they guy instructing the players every day.

I still say Dyche would be a good fit, and at the moment his side are all over Everton...

I agree and if he were interested would be doing everything possible to get him. Not sure how the dynamic might work between him, Dougie and SP mind.

f***, that would be worse than Sam "I'm not a crook". I'd still watch, but damn that would be a hard watch.

Is it that hard a watch ? I think they've been direct and effective in lot of games particularly against us.

The Steve Coppell era wasn't exactly for the football purists.

On the whole Roy has been great for Palace, but the performances over the past few months have been turgid. The great results have glossed over what has been total dross. How we got anything out of both the Fulham and Brighton games is a miracle. Had we lost both of those 2-0, like we deserved, I’m not sure there would be much support for Roy. We were fortunate today that WBA are one of the few teams worse than us.

I hope it’s Roy’s last season and I’d be the first to give him a standing ovation. I also hope we take a gamble with a manager and new players because nothing can be worse then watching dire game after dire game with nothing to play for. Once again our season is effectively over with 9 games left.

What a dull existence we have become.

His squad as a whole works for each other, ours works mostly for Zaha, he has good motivation skills so could be a good fit yes.

I agree.

I don’t want to get on the players backs because ultimately they are following the game plan and giving everything they’ve got - and their comment is clear.
The frustrating thing is that we do have spells in the odd games when our passing is slick and we look a half decent team. Today we let WBA have the ball and let’s be fair they looked the better side. But only because we let them. The game was there for us to get hold of it by the scruff of the neck after we went 1 up and we just sat back.

Dyche, Howe or Wilder are all good managers - I’d be happy with any of them.
In particular Wilders efforts last year with basically a team of Championship (at best) players was remarkable and I do recall suggestions that he would be a good fit for us (at the time) were laughed off with the usual “why would he come to us” remarks.

I also think having experienced relegation doesn’t make any of them a bad manager in my book- in fact it might actually provide some valuable lessons for them all which we may benefit from.

WBA appeared the better team in my eyes, they held possession better and they managed to press us better, they also had as many good opportunities as we had, they even created the only goal of the game lol and at their place we benefitted only after they had a player sent off, before that they were in control of the game, the worst thing they did was sack their manager, the best thing we've done though as the majority of our players come to the very end of their days is to bring in Mr Hodgson who thankfully understands how awful we've become relying on one player to turn up and do the business game in game out and realises that the majority of his squad is unbelievably unable to perform to any degree of consistency, the efforts we see on the pitch have absolutely nothing to do with our manager or coaching staff.

I’m so confused what to think about our club at the moment!

One part of me is terrified that making too many changes (management, coaching staff, playing staff) will totally disrupt the team and results. We’ve seen clubs plummet down the leagues in years gone by.

The other part of me is jealous by the attacking football of West Ham, Villa and Leeds this season, all teams I think are of a similar position to us in terms of ability. The thought of a change in style is attractive and maybe freshen things up HOWEVER, this takes time to do it effectively and would be a complete shift from what our squad are used to. Changing Roy and his team is a risk in my opinion but it’s also going to happen at some point soon.

I personally think he will sign for another year. Parish will be looking at the market of available managers and think ‘will they do a better job with this group of players?’. I’m not sure there are many that could get the balance right as over-committing going forward would greatly expose our poor defence.

Should we change, someone like Southgate could fit the bill. Professional and I’m so confused what to think about our club at the moment!

A steady professional with great experience that would be willing to give youth a chance, play a more ‘modern’ style of football and not as chaotic as Pardew/De Boer.

I really can’t see our owners not offering Roy another year. Unfortunately the PL is not about playing attractive football
or entertainment, for clubs like ours that spend their existence in the ‘lower half’.

We all know it’s about retaining PL £ year on year no more no less. Roy provides that with relatively few headaches and low outlay for the powers that be at board level.

It is what it is .. ask fans of Forest or Sunderland if they would swap places, we all know the answer. Royball is here to stay, the fans only input is purchasing a ST to endure hours of dull repetitive football in some vain hope of one good game per season at Selhurst.
