Sorry mate, but what they stand for and what they can deliver matters not a jot in terms of winning a majority. They will split the Tory vote in sufficient constituencies to deny Cameron any hope of forming a majority government at the general election, simple as that.

Both in terms of the problem of simply counting heads and in terms of the lessons that the major parties have to take on board to ensure that they do not alienate a large part of the electorate. UKIP are a very good example of the dangers inherent in democracy. Both in terms of the problem of simply counting heads and in terms of the lessons that the major parties have to take on board to ensure that they do not alienate a large part of the electorate.

I completely agree, except the bit about the Labour Party. I see them as divisive and partisan, whereas the Conservatives and Liberals are much closer to the ordinary people (although the Tories are still a party of vested interests - just interests which are generally better for us as a whole).

But that is the beauty of politics!
