Why Monday PJ?? (Very innocent and genuine question )

I just think it would put a dividing line down between the very genuine honour given to Roy, and Palace business, whether that's a new year for Roy and Ray, or Potter?

We have been deserted by Dazza sadly, so no ITK around ....

When you get a professional award at Roy's age, it usually means you are being pensioned off.

I think that people need to take breaks from football with all the stresses and strains, and in the fulness of time, all will be revealed.

Potter is not my kind of manager, but results are what matters.

If Roy stays on then great, if we get Potter then great. We could not have dreamed of getting either a few years back, so let's just be happy that we are now a more appealing club.

Yeah, that does make some sense.

The longer it (no news) goes on the more I suspect it will be Roy. If that is the case I will be quite content.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Maybe Parish will have a manager reveal party and Roy will come bursting out of a large cake, or something.

The reason for the delay is Parish has been on holiday for 2 weeks topping up his tan and squeezing lemon juice on his barnet.

If he decides to give Roy another year we will be in this position looking for yet another manager Dec/Jan time.

Your view re the Parish/Hodgson relationship may well be right. I'm not convinced, though, that Hodgson wants a full year in charge. However, he may be willing, along with Lewington, to mentor McCarthy for the year and to take the reins himself if it should come to that later in the season.

We are not an attractive proposition for proven PL managers because they know they won't be given the kind of transfer kitty they want. Of the younger manager options wanting to prove themselves, both Gerrard and Lampard have shown they aren't ready for PL, (and I wonder whether they ever will be). Potter remains a possibility unless he's already been approached and said no. I'm not sure that the squad we have would suit the style he wants to play nor whether he is willing to adapt the style of play to the squad we have.

It's fine telling Parish to get the manager position sorted but as we discovered back in 2021, the so-called better managers seem reluctant to want to come here.

Appointing a manager from a foreign league is risky.

Meanwhile, happy Transfer Day to all Palace fans on this site

First point, not going to happen.
Second point, why are we not an attractive option? Our transfer budget is sensible but not non existent. If you look at other clubs of our size in the division no one is out spending Palace on players unless (Bloom at Brighton who has big money to spend because he has sold players for big money) they have had a big cash injection. Even West Ham will not spend crazy money this summer and they've not only just won a trophy but they are about to sell Rice for a figure approaching £100m!

That sale, plus others that they plan to make will give them a decent transfer kitty, way in excess of ours.

How they spend it is another matter ( think Bale / Spurs ), but the money will be there.
