Genuine question. Why do BAME people tend to avoid the sun more than white people? That’s a lifestyle choice. I take cod liver oil anyway. Had an elbow pain a few years ago for a long time and had gone within a month of taking for liver oil. Isn’t this BAME claim exaggerated seeing as the virus is a problem in built up areas? And as tasty as Caribbean and Indian food is, it is pretty high in saturated fat. Obesity or internal visceral fat is a problem when fighting off this virus. Well, if you think that the fact ALL people in the Croydon ITU are BAME is exaggerated then that is up to you. I am reliably informed that many of the people there are slim professionals who probably have a very good lifestyle. The common factor appears to be low Vitamin D. It is normal for there to be low vitamin D early in the year, the nadir is generally during February. Add to that lock-in, which has probably reduced the amount of sunlight for most people, and that you need an awful lot more sun if you are black to create your Vitamin D. Keep taking the cod liver oil, it really matters. And tell your black friends. And dark skinned asians.

By the way, I was neither agreeing nor disagreeing with your points earlier, merely giving you information. I agree with much of what you say here. My frustrations are certainly not with those putting themselves at significant risk working in these environments, but instead with a joined up plan and lack of provisions from the top. Thanks for putting your points across in balanced and sensible fashion.

This is a worry, especially since various studies are highlighting the importance of Vitamin D or prevalence of deficiency in those badly affected. People should definitely supplement where it's likely that they may be deficient, but it's no doubt easier said than done to get that message out.

Vaccine News. Early days but at least it sounds promising so far [Link] So far the virus has been very stable, unlike the likes of flu and hiv so there is hope on the vaccine front. Massive amounts of efforts and resources are being put into solving this compared to any other coronavirus. Need must and all that.

Government already backing down regarding quarantine of arriving passengers, now saying only passengers from high risk countries, haven’t said what these are. This smacks of bending over backwards to the aviation industry. Can’t believe this, how can they try to stop people meeting in groups and cannot guarantee safety of school children but all and sundry can enter from abroad

Helping the aviation industry at the detriment of everyone else. Utter rubbish.

Everyone will know this by now even those coming from other countries. People with symptoms will be stupid to go out.

I'm on prescribed vit D due to my methotrexate for RA. That is possibly also considered a block for C19 even though its immunosuppressive ironically.

Yet you have left wing politicians and activists telling us daily it’s due to poor distribution of wealth etc etc, yet you’re reliably informed it’s genetic and/or they don’t go out enough. I actually agreed with the lefties on why BAME people were suffering to this, but not on who’s caused it, becUin other decades it would’ve just been other people living in inner London, and som white professionals suffered this before realising they had to work at home.

It seems that my desire to find a cure for a global pandemic was more important to me than the race of the scientist in the jpg. Here's a BBC vaccine article featuring white people to make you feel better [Link]
