Has anyone told Joe that a video announcing his running has been released?

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Pretty much. Monied, reality detached, with one dimensional cartoon takes on society.. aka two out of three in common with the typical fanboy types stroking themselves off to him.

James O'Brien and Dan Wooton definitely have some of the same nauseating characteristics. Nuance doesn't sell or air. News 'personality' types appeal based on a combination of whose funding them and peoples personal shortcomings and hangups. Broadcast comfort food equivalents for the lazy and/or maladjusted.

I never liked O'Brien because of his nasty side he couldn't talk about the Tories or Brexit without being over the top. You can actually be against those things without sounding like you are an intolerant bigoted moron the very person he claims to detest. Oddly he hates Corbyn some sort of lefty feud I never understood.

Anyway the reason I cannot respect him was when Carl Beech appeared on his program. This was at the time when he was known as Nick and plod were taking him seriously.

Beech came on the show and told the most preposterous story about a girl being murdered by Tories when he was a rent boy. I could not believe how O'Brien simply accepted everything he said without even gently challenging or questioning his allegations.

From that moment I suspected that "Nick" was a liar and disgust at O'Brien he was very happy to hear about evil pedophile Tory grandees.

Interestingly O'Brien has kept very quiet about this since.

Interesting that it appears Carlson was pivotal to Fox losing near on a billion dollars in their Dominion voting systems case. His adament and lapped up on-air voting conspiracies were entirely at odds to him stating how farcical such theories were in private conversations, especially pertaining to the company taking legal issue. The grift of course can't always pay off, but it is intriguing to glimpse the reality behind the theatre.

Amusing that he now suddenly takes issue with power and the establishment when that's exactly what kept him in his job where year on year he'd clearly say anything for money until his paymaster expressed annoyance. You'd think when your net worth is in the tens of millions you'd actually have the nerve to say what you actually believe rather than exactly what you're told, but then look over to rival more liberal networks and basically it's basically the situation. They're all happy to lay their own brand of fantasy on thick as long as the money keeps coming.

You would think so wouldn't you? Often it seems that people like a good vent and they use these types as way of a vicarious outlet. It's largely pointless though, because as you say nobody learns anything by someone with different yet often common views being there to be berated by a self important host. It's all very over the top, like Olbermann types. Behind closed doors you likely get a different set of beliefs from them all. When someone has one set of views in one venue and another elsewhere there's always a financial or emotional motivation to their disingenuous conduct.

It doesn't surprise me that he soon quiets down when unfounded accusations are shown to be soon. When people are eager to accept anything that attacks their political opposites it's more propoganda effort than news or opinion. Of course you see it left and right alike, and it's a pity that often people are eager to root for either Punch or Judy rather than give em all a good metaphorical battering .

The lesson I hope LBC and O'Brien must learn is that no one should be allowed to air controversial views without being challenged.

Nick was invited onto the show by O'Brien who allowed him to speak freely and didn't even question him. I assume that O'Brien would argue that as a victim he should be believed well as the Americans say trust but verify. If Nick was too fragile to be challenged he should not have been allowed on the air.

100%. If someone has an out there take, it ranges from bad form to dangerous to just accept it or to let it drift by as if it's statement of fact. There will always be some nutter out there willing to say almost anything to further a particular politics, and we should be not be scrutinising ordinary political perspectives (of a shade we may disagree with) more than wildly off piste takes that may be aligned with what could be perceived as our tribe. That's where being principled should kick in.

Thats odd because one of the things Carlson is criticised for by my side of the Right, is that he steeered well clear of any of the stolen election narrative.

Now airing actual footage of what happened on January 6th showing police leading 'protesters' around the building and showing them the way, then yes, Carlson guilty of that but in terms of proclaiming the election to have been rigged, then steering well clear.

I think he went because of what he said in this speech.

[Link] given last weekend.

And, oddly enough, probaby more to do with upsetting the Republicans than anybody else.

US politics is a funny old game.

Carlson breaks His silence.

This guy was the highest watched news anchor in modern times. I imagine he's hot property at the moment and the suspicion is that Fox will try to stop him working for someone else for the remainer of his contract. I doubt that will work personally.

Personally I agree with him on a lot of what he says, pretty much all of what he says here.

I can't be doing with religious nonsense, but this guy is just stating the obvious and expressing thoughts that the majority think, and this is being seen as radical.

Of course, he also loses his job.

Well, that just confirms what he is saying.

'Fox News Tonight' loses over 700,000 viewers after Tucker Carlson’s departure, which has not only caused a drop in viewership but also prompted the company's share price to take a tumble with Market Insider saying Fox Corporation’s stock fell five percent, knocking 962 million dollars off its market value.

On Fox News, Carlson amassed approximately 3.4 million viewers and has already garnered 34 million views on his new Twitter videotaped statement.
