Job done. Unlucky not to score, and set up Puncheon with a sitter, all in the space of ten minutes or so and ran down the clock brilliantly. Underated player.

nickyw I wonder if any of you remember Trevor Aylott? Abraham reminds me of him. The classic donkey. "Ooh he holds the ball up well and is great with the fans". So what? This is the premier league. He doesn't deserve to be here. One of his 'shots' was literally like a pass back to the Stoke goalkeeper. Embarrassing. And no, I'm not knocking the team, I'm knocking the decision to bring on a donkey like AW in the premier league. I thought we played a good game, and deserved the win. I'm sure it meant a huge amount to Pulis. Edited by nickyw (19 Jan 2014 5.00am) Some people are unaware of their ignorance, some try and hide it whilst others go out of their way to advertise it. It must be tough when Puncheon has a good game. Who can I find to criticise or compare to donkeys? If you offered a balanced opinion it might be of value or interest. If you had been to the game.... Wilbraham didn't poison other players to get game time. He was reinstated into the squad/team by the manager. I suspect he then did exactly was was asked of him and probably more. I welcome his inclusion. He definitely offers something different and was very effective yesterday afternoon. Perhaps posting at 5.00am local time is not such a good idea.

The only time we kept the ball from a Jules kick was after he came on. It is by far his greatest asset and I think it should be used until we have another striker. Chamakh is not a top man, he plays far better behind someone and has the technical ability needed to score goals. Wilbraham is very very good at holding the ball up and allowing players to get around him. It's beggars belief that you can slate him for his side foot shot when hes played no first team football since August and his first shot he had was well controlled and on target, more than Jerome has managed in 1/2 a season of football. He is not a goal scorer and doesn't claim to be but for our style of football we need a top man who the ball sticks too, wilbraham does that better than anyone else we have.
Let's all be pedantic shall we? He has scored goals, perhaps not for us but he has. It wasn't his job yesterday, his job was to do exactly what he did. Muscle the stoke defence and waste time while trying to bring others into the game. Mission accomplished. The mere fact that Pulis brought him on is good enough for me, a man who knows about football and what is needed to get a result. Gayle is a goal scorer and was available but he wasn't what we needed.
"They got his own song 'He's just too good for you', it's quite unbelievable but when you see it and he's facing up someone - I actually feel sorry for them, 'Cos he actually is" - Ian Holloway |

He should be taken down to the pdsa in south croydon and put down.
Tbf moxey when he came on could just as well have done the same job up front

From what I saw Wilbraham did ok and smart play to set up Puncheon with a great chance and you have to remember he doesn't play much. BUT he is sh*t. Would have liked to have seen Phillips been played more though. Also I don't care about Wilbraham as long we stay up. We do need players who know how to finish.

Edited by nickyw (19 Jan 2014 5.00am) Well at least it was on target...crikey why the need to pick on the guy, Jerome wasn't available, this is the first time he has been able to play and he came on as Chamakh had been getting a bashing all afternoon and needed protecting for our next game..Wibs did a great job, and barely gave the ball away. He may not 'deserve' to be in the Premiership in your eyes, but came on and did the job he was asked to do. And it could be worse we could have payed £5M for a 'donkey' like Danny Graham

Here we go! A guy who hasn't even been in the 25, let alone played a competitive match, comes on and does exactly what was required of him by his manager and the team to help us win a crucial match and then gets slagged off by so called supporters who have to have a fall guy! For much of the season it has been Puncheon, but he was designated 'hero' yesterday. But Wilbraham who stepped in for Murray in the playoffs and helped secure Premiership football continues to be the butt of abuse! For me, he is a journeyman with limitations, who never gives less than 100% and, used appropriately, makes a valuable contribution.

Have you antis not noticed yet that when Wilbraham plays even as just a sub we tend to get the desired result? I love him. He's quirky and thick-skinned. He's also been promoted five times. Don't care if he's not that great tbh. He's Palace, he tries 100% and he has my respect.

Wilbs was given a job to do and did it very well he is Crouch without the goals.I think he should be in the 25 if we dont sign a new striker.

Ah I see. A home win & by the sounds of it a good performance so with the lack of anything to moan about a player is selected for scapegoat. Well done.
Pulis sent Wilbs on to keep hold of the ball to see out the victory. He did just that! I hate the plonkers on here that are always looking for something negative to say.

Was at the match yesterday unlike some of the posters on this topic.Wilbs when he came on was better than Chamakh in holding play up thus giving the rest of the team time to get forward, for long periods we were having to play too deep because of our lack of possession up front,we actually looked a better all round team and had two great chances to kill the game off in the final few minutes after the substitutions. Some of you just dont like him because of his lack of goals but football is also about a lot of other tactics as well, so give himm a break he deserves one...WELL DONE WILBS.
