I can't believe the amount of seemingly intelligent folk that go apes*** over this massive play of smoke and mirrors. It's almost insane. The late great George Carlin did a great stand up set about it in the US. I'd say there is choice, but that choice is irrelevant for most people. For example, the Conservatives have around 37% of the vote, and return with 327 seats. UKIP polls 10% and gets 1. Lib Dems return 7% of the vote and get 8 seats. Neither representative, democratic or fair. Like you say, its about the establishment of the status quo for the purposes of pretending to be democratic. Exactly, it doesn't even come close to being representative. We all lose, whether we realise it or not.

Yes, idiot electorate rejecting things you support. They must be fools, unable to use their common sense in making a choice. You mean that 6.2% difference in the number of votes cast for those two parties.... The weird thing is that the Conservative support increased by 0.8% but has been sufficient to return a majority? Curious. Ironically Labour increased their share of the vote by 1.4% (more increase than the conservatives). Why its almost as if some peoples votes are worth much more than others.... It is a bit of a joke, but when we remember the lengths that those in power went to, to do in any other voting system, it's no surprise things end up this way.
