Bring his wages down but if he wants to platy regularly in Eng. PREM league...then he has ultimate chance to reassert himself and accompanying value in the bigger picture. Think positive by way of playing for smaller club tan Arsenal with Palace but latter larger in terms of bringing out the best.

"I would be so gutted if Benteke and Van Persie ran out first game of the season in a Palace kit", said no sane Palace fan ever

We need players that will WANT to play for CPFC. Not just turn up and collect money. This would be a backwards step

Van Persie is on a whole other level to Adebayor, the issue is motivation and attitude. Also he'll want guarantees about a starting position and more likely to throw a strop if subbed or sat on the bench.

No - hopefully we have learned something from getting players in their twilight years - none of whom have worked out. Kevin Phillips being a prime example o that ;-)

Van Persie? A great striker 3 or 4 years ago, but who knows now? Not a gamble worth taking

Unless he's secretly become an alcoholic drug addict for this money I can't see why not. Looking at his 2015 youtubes he looks ok, and the important thing for me is that he has the football "smarts". His tubes show him making some clever assists too which will work well for Benteke if we get him. Also, a glamour name at our club which adds momentum to us getting away from the old CPFC second-rate mindset. And next transfer window when we try to buy foreign players suddenly our list looks more the bizzo and then they won't necessarily just opt for perceivably better PL teams. I say, unless there is hidden baggage or fitness doubt then at least consider him (maybe on a free first year?)

Bright future ahead me predicts The problem is for people like me is that the team is now becoming more ambitious than me: I got used to 'poor old Palace' for so many years...so time for me to raise my expectations too!
