A stockbroker urged me to buy a stock that would triple its value every year. I told him, at my age, I don't even buy green bananas!

I'm feeling a bit confused, not sure if I've had a great day or missed out on a life changing opportunity.

All week at Chelts I've picked four horses and permed them in a lucky 15 for a bit of fun. Admittedly a muggy way of betting but I'm not a big racing fan so it's mainly for interest.

Anyway, today I decided to bet shrewder and just do the singles and, wouldn't you know it, managed to back 4 consecutive winners. I've ended up around £500 up for the day but am struggling to overcome the fact that if I'd just had a pound on the acca it paid 77000/1. Think I'm going to get drunk to celebrate / drown my sorrows.

Had fakir 9/2 e/w in the 2.10. Couldn’t challenge winner after clipping the 2nd from last fence.

2nd race I mucked up meant to do it e/w but didn't so lost out on an e/w at 12/1.
3rd race brave eagle was more like relegation fodder.

It's hard to come out on top at Cheltenham the good news is if you do the odds are normally great so you win big.

One more point

2 winners and 2 place returns out of 4 on day 1 is a good start. Shame Fakir didn’t win to make it very very good.
