On the contrary since Mandanda was signed on a free it actually turned out better than a loan would've considering we made a nifty profit on his return to Marseille. Although that being said we can't count on that happening again so yes a loan move would in fact be a better idea all round.

It was more the return on his salary for only 10 games and presumably all the administration and aggravation et al, as if he was on £50k a week as a free agent it cost Palace around £260,000 a game!
