Didn't a Somalian boy shoot at a police officer in south Croydon a few years back? Life is cheap back there.

Reminds me of when someone from another part of London in the early '90s told me about the BNP dishing out flyers outside a tube station warning people that the 'Somalans are coming.'

The police really are an embarrassing joke. I enjoy that film on Live on London called 'We still kill the old way' where the local rats get their comeuppance from '60s/'70s gangsters cleaning up their old are in E2, the name of the gang.

Local gangs and knives or weapons haven't been seen since then or the mod v rocker days. The fact there's a drugs business that leads to selling harder drugs within it and peer pressure to take part makes it all the more deplorable.

The disappointing result of this is that white British move away from the area but they'd stay if the gangs were white and I'd bet it'd be tackled by locals and probably police.

There is no doubt that lads had bike chains, flick knives and broken bottles in the old days but also had a sense of right and wrong.
Now you get stabbed to death for looking at someone too long. The weapons are not the issue, it's the owners.

What did their sense of right and wrong tell them about carrying bike chains, flick knifes and broken bottles? Right or wrong? All this stuff is wrong: teddy boys, mods and rockers (I was a mod), football hooligans, gangs, political extremists, religious extremists, rioters. Individuals make choices and carry out actions regardless of their upbringing and circumstances, it is their personal responsibility not to do bad things.

Well, there are degrees of wrong I'd say.
Having a weapon and using it to kill someone for nothing are a little different, I'm sure you would agree.

Policing trying to raise awareness of knife crime hardly a true reflection of Croydon and its potential. Crime stats also show reported crime down significantly in last few years.

Thank goodness for the free market then..
