I paid a lot of attention to this yesterday. I consider it successful if we had 3 passes after. Ward did pretty well with throw ins. PVA takes FOREVER to throw the ball in. I can't understand it, even when he has people clearly open he allows the opposition to set up. I'm not sure if this is the reason why, but his success rate was pitiful. I used to think it was a good thing when the other team kicked it out, now I realize they just want the ball back. Originally posted by Daddyorc
TFM last season was terrible at throw ins, I think he lost every single one. PVA and AWB are better, but not by all that much. Wardy is very good, barely any lost. Agree with the sentiment that we tend to take too much time, all the time. Would be nice to see some quick ones sometimes, as keeps the opposition scrambling.

Apparently you can get specialist coaching in this and the bin dippers have been doing it. Interestingly two of the clubs this guy has worked with are represented in our current squad - Schalke and Midtylland.

At the very end of the training video today on palace tv you see Jairo practice a corner and Ward a throw in. I guess we will see the difference between skills and shape this season.
I read this board everyday but never write anything; except this. |
