In seriousness, if we sign another centre back after Andersen then we will run the risk of blocking the development of the ones we've signed already. Get Andersen in, then move on to other parts of the pitch.

Kelly is the worst player to play for Palace in the last 5 years and the only thing Jach ever did is score a great pen. I will take this with a pinch of salt because anyone considering Kelly as a footballer has frankly not been paying much attention.

I agree with the general thrust of these sentiments.

Kelly,apart from a handful of games at Huddersfield when he was a teenager,has played all his league football in the PL.

Kelly has never let us down when called in to play CH. He struggled when played as a FB, but always gave 100%. He was in the England set up for a while and won one cap, so really cannot be so bad. I like Kelly. He always gives his all. But his ability is limited.

We've definitely had worse players. As a £1m signing way back when he's been great value for the club. As long as players give there all that's good enough for me. If they don't have the ability to play at this level, then that manager that signed them should take accountability.

Kelly with a suitable partner is more than good enough for us. OK, he gave a goal at Anfield a couple of seasons ago (we still won). Other than that, very solid CD. Labelling him as "our worst ever player" must be a joke.

I can only endorse the support for Kelly but to get this thread back on track, the signing of Joachim Andersen would be another fantastic addition to our squad. A first choice centre back pairing of him and Guehi is a mouth watering prospect. I hope our club confirm this signing later on today. If so, that would be the CB position done for me and time to concentrate on a winger, LB and midfielder. It is looking promising as we’ve still got the two loan positions to fill.

It was a really ill informed comment, wasn't it ? Especially given that Jordan Mutch was also stealing a living at Palace for 4 years !

Guehi will get his chances, unfortunately, when Tomkins is out injured. I presume that we either wont renew Tomkins contract at the end of the season or, if we do, he will be offered a new one on reduced terms as he becomes back-up to the Andersen/Guehi partnership.
