And where do they get informed of the absurdity of the notion? If all teachings loosely point to the same thing and they're becoming more frequently corrupted then we're in a situation where certain acts should be explicitly advised against. Just a footnote beneath references to martyrdom in all religious texts should do it and a rethink of terms such as 'fighting', 'battle(field)', in the context of jihaad for example. If a book doesn't actually tell you to go and murder for your reward in heaven then there's no harm in pointing out that's not the way to achieve it.
