Agreed. Andy Johnson was a great goalscorer for us he was also great at defending from the front. He would run the CB's ragged pulling them out of position and creating holes in the defence and breaking up attacks before they started. We need a striker who will work his socks off Benteke is not that type of player.

No he isn't lazy like Benteke does not take much to close defender's down when out possession. Murray was a good example of that.

Someone of Benteke's build is never going to have that kind of work rate, it would be good to get that type of player in to complement Benteke. Like when we had AJ and Shipperly. That said, we had to churn through a lot of players to get someone of AJ's quality. Then it took a year for him to become really good. Same happened with Murray. Both signings of AJ and Murray had some good fortune about them. All clubs need to churn through a few forwards before they strike it lucky with someone like that. When it happens it will come from leftfield

The only difference being is that we knew Murray was a goal scorer. When we signed AJ he was a 3 goal a season winger. I cant imagine anyone thought it was a good bit of business. we all know how well that turned out

When it happens it will come from leftfield look at Rugby League players and tell me big fellas can't get around the park at speed. Benteke doesn't have the desire to do it, simple at that. That sort of striker can work in some teams, but we need more than that. We've certainly churned through some strikers since we last had a good one, so we must be due a goal machine any time now.
