I think people are barking up the wrong tree with this. I don't think it's a question of whether Eze is a Vieira type of player. More a question of how the squad has changed at a time when Eze is still working his way back from serious injury. If PV is doing his job properly and picking what he considers to be his best team, then Eze has competition from Gallagher and Olise . Their contributions have been undeniable. As I said on another thread, he needs a full pre season to get back on level pegging with the other players.

Eze has ability, silky skills, or whatever one wants to call it, but for me the more memorable Palace midfields has that element of grit and determination and energy necessary for the role. Not being able to tackle or header is a serious detriment to the role. He might be a bit too much of a luxury player, only full game fitness, and game time will give us the answer, which obviously is the catch-22 - when can PV find the games to give Eze a lenghthy run out? He can't be a starter for the cup, nor for league games.

His injury came at a bad time (not that there's ever a good time) and PV has been careful about phasing him back in. We've seen him a couple of times and I thought he looked OK, but just needs the games to get back on terms. At least we've got Olise who has fitted in beautifully. He was nominated in Cascarino's TOTW again incidentally. But I loved seeing Eze in full flow and I miss him in the team. Maybe when CG is back at Chelsea and Wilf has moved on he'll get his opportunity.

I hope he gets a start tomorrow although we shouldn’t underestimate the opposition. Given where we are in the league we can afford to field a very strong side tomorrow.

Newcastle after Eze? Wishful thinking on their part Den, although if PV continues to leave him on the bench he may well choose to move for regular games. As much as I am an admirer of the way he plays, the rapidly improving Olise will make it harder for Eze to get his regular place back.

Surely Eze will be Gallagher's replacement, He is stronger than a lot of people think, but hopefully his stamina will improve, but i don't think anyone has an engine that Gallagher has
