Right now I imagine Chelsea are unable to sell anything. When they are in a position to do so I can't see that they'll be anxious to sell an England player on a cheap contract with a 5/6 year contract. Logically they'd hold all their academy heroes and sell the likes of Lukaku That would shave the wage bill and bring in the bucks. If they get round round to selling the likes of James and Gallagher then that means they are looking at a liquidation scenario imo. Unfortunately, this is exactly right. The Abramovich situation has dramatically reduced our chances of signing Gallagher (unless it's persuaded Gallagher himself that Chelsea is no longer where he wants to be and he pushes to come to Palace permanently). The bottom line is that if Chelsea has to sell players, it's the expensive foreign ones who'll go first and the value youth products on far more realistic contracts who they'll build their team around. Gallagher's long term role at Chelsea has become far more central in the past few days.
