Lerma and Docoure clearly been rushed back to early. Both of them off the pace badly. That's what happens when you go in to a season with a thread bare squad though. We will do well to keep this to less than 5. That’s exactly what has happened. We tried to get by with about 7 decent players and nothing else. This could get quite embarrassing.

Wise after the event, perhaps, but a performance like this has been coming for a while. Given how light our squad is and the injuries that we've collected, it's surprising it's taken this long but today we've met a side who have invested in their squad, have a young manager with a defined, attractive philosophy and they're battering us. It should be five. None of our players are playing well but they're very obviously targeting Mitchell. I've never been his biggest fan but the fact that we didn't sign any competition for him in the summer remains outrageous. We've lost the game so can Roy at least stop with the negative bulls*** now and get Ahamada and Rak Sak on? Give Franca his debut too at the 70 minute mark. There is zero point playing two strikers if there are no attacking players in the team to support them.

We can't play Mateta and Edouard together as they both lack mobility and OE doesn't defend. Howe clearly recognised that and threw everything at Mitchell who has found himself facing two or even three on one situations. Roy didn't seem to try and address that at all when even my dog could see we'd concede more if we didn't do something. I did say to my daughter that if Trippier keeps going in so heavily in his tackles someone is going to kick him...cue Edouard! Two of their goals were lucky, the first being a mis*** cross and the second being because Guehi slipped, but to be honest it could have been 5. God knows what Roy does now. Terrible defensive display which was probably not expected. Blunt attacking display, which probably was!

Mitchell is so so poor going forward.. How he's been allowed to start week in week out with absolutely no competition for his position is beyond me..
Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!! |
