Don’t sit there. Also I’m just being realistic and it’s reality our mentality as a club is a shambles and embarrassing. Zero ambition at all. We will go down the season ahead.

I think it's a summary, rather than adding anything new, But it raises the issue of whether Roy himself wants another year, in the highly competitive PL. Maybe for Roy, it could be one step too far. I think everyone at the club realises a clear management structure needs to be in place by the end of June latest, before the players come back for preseason?

Plenty of clubs on a lower budget seem to do better than us. Maybe if we had achieved better finishes and had ambition we would have made more money. All you need to do is look at Brighton Brentford etc. Sides that want to do well. We’re still stuck with a 76 year old manager after being in the division for 10 years trying to stay in the f***ng league. I’ve had a season ticket for 30 years and this next season I am not gonna bother going. What’s the point in giving the club money when they don’t want to progress we will always be in this position with a crap budget if every year we just want to stay up. Hopefully when we are bottom in February more fans will refuse to turn up. We will look like Sunderland and Blackburn at the end of their premier league years. Every time there’s a chance of aiming higher parish throws a spanner in the works cause he has to control managers even though he has the footballing knowledge of a wet paper towel

I enjoy your posts, but quite clearly you arent a fan, so its best if you move on and support Brighton you seem to idolise.

Guardian reporting this morning that Parish wants Roy to stay on for another year but it is Roy who is considering if he wants to or not:

That's your opinion, enjoy it

Your missing the point.
Brighton and Brentford are owned by two very intelligent people, professional gamblers, analytical superstars. Their modal is one we all aspire to. But we are a long way off (as are 18 other premier league clubs)

we are a loss making company with billionaire owners not willing to bankroll the club. The ambition for us is to clear the debts and run a sustainable football club. (Boring I know).

In the last 10 years, we have
- Raised the profile of the club (Amazon and Channel 4 doc)
- purchased the training ground
- Put a plaster on Selhurst Park
- approved planning to increase Selhurst park
- category A academy
- FA cup final and semi final
The most successful tenure in the clubs 162 year history if your measuring conservative years in the top devision.

Whilst I admit Parish makes mistakes, I do sympathies with the ambitions of the fan base vs no funds. The net debt is -£100m.

In Parish seeking investment he has unfortunately divided the board room.

Textor is a smokescreen for other US investors & has no money for Lyon
Harris and Blitzer want out
Parish has little wealth to keep the ship afloat on his own.

So in summary (and sorry if I depress you all).

We ride out the premier league
Maintain Category 1 academy
Increase the stadium
Increase revenues
Increase the overall value of Crystal Palace FC
And….
Hopefully get brought out by a billionaire to take us to the next step and allow Textor, Parish,Harris and Blitzer to make profits on their investments.

The End

A Very Good post. The people bemoaning our lack of transfer and/or 'ambition' should read it. twice.

I think things are becoming a tad clearer maybe? Or maybe not! The Palace plan seems to be for Ron, Ray and Paddy to stay on as coaching team, for this coming season, and then for Paddy to take over as manager, with Roy as mentor the season after that? But it's a lot for Ron to take onboard, and he may or may not want to do.

I've said all along that I question whether Roy wants a full year. I really do hope that he's not coerced against his better judgement to say "yes" as that will not turn out well IMO. If he takes the job on it has to be because he really wants to; otherwise Freedman and Parish must accept Roy's wishes and look elsewhere.

After his recent positive performance, Roy should be allowed to sail off into the sunset and rest on his laurels of a job well done.

As I have said before -the problem is not whether the “billionaire” Americans or any other exceptionally wealthy investors want to part with their money-the fact is that SP has a reported 20% shareholding and draws minimum £3.5million out each year. If the club wanted to build the stand/have a reasonable transfer budget it would cost SP 20% of the outlay-which he seems to have studiously avoided/probably can’t afford.

Major shareholders should be either like minded or at least have similar wealth to work together properly. We have a Mini mixed with Rolls Royces finance wise so big outlays ain’t going to happen until SP sells his shares. He has been brilliant at money making for himself-and keeping Palace up 10 years etc by spinning plates -but dont forget he chose and brought the Americans in ,and until they agree to invest without SP putting in his percentage there will be no big transfer budget or new stand. This is most unlikely however if they want a big return on their investment and no relegation they may have to-and its possibly not beyond SP’s financial skills to get them to do so!
