Which I thought was impossible tbf.

You guys are just like Old Testament prophets (though not as accurate), even though St. Tony Benn wanted us to leave the EU, along with that other hard right xenophobe, Dennis Skinner.

If I was happy about it/wanted it I would've voted 'Brexit' as that imo would be the quickest route to ruination. Use your noggin, man.

It's the Hard Right/Hard Brexiteers that don't mind us wrecking ourselves just as long as we aren't in the EU. The Opposite of Patriotism.

The fact you are not 'remotely worried' merely smacks of smugness.

Edited by Kermit8 (31 Mar 2017 4.56pm)

No. You voted against it and now you want to be proved right and say I told you so.

Pitiful man. The consequences of leaving the EU won't be measured over days, weeks or even a few years. Only a fool would think otherwise.

Just bloody fantastic.

And of course there will be pain before...er..er....what was the gain again?

NHS - that was it. Marvellous. All that dosh.

Are you thick? What do you want? Just repeal all the EU regulations (NB: those were the ones that our parliament didn't even vote on - straight onto the books with not even a mention in the commons), directives and SIs? Do you know what that would do?

No, you simpleton. This is exactly how you do it, and exactly how it was proposed. Transpose existing EU law into UK law, and repeal/replace.

Tell me, what was the alternative? After all, it's hardly any legislation at all, right? That's what you lot told us. Should be a piece of cake.

I don't think you understand - and am not surprised that you don't - but nothing has started at all until yesterday. Up till now we have had nine months of nothing but chest puffing and a falling pound.

I hope it works out since, unlike the owners of the Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph and the Sun, I live here.

But I am not confident. I just hope the Brexiters are right and the people who voted remain like me are wrong.

Otherwise its another press supported error of judgement - like the Iraq war but one that actually hurts us instead of the civilians of Iraq...and Syria and Libya.

Maybe we have it coming.

Go and read the treasury report on what would happen upon "a vote to leave". That (the remainiacs argued) was on the basis of triggering A50 immediately. So, now it's been triggered (as are all the remainiacs, it seems). When is the £4300 coming out of my account? When are the house prices dropping?

Right now, the FTSE has never been higher, and today Siemens was just the latest in a long line of Brexit u-turns that are now sheepishly eating their referendum-campaign words.

This was not the Press' doing - it was a highly partisan government pressuring both companies, governments (see Australia as the latest) and NGOs to scare us into remaining in the EU. They did this through taxpayer-funded mailshots, dodgy Treasury dossiers and trips from US presidents that then have the nerve to wail at suggestions their democratic process was interfered with by another country.

I hope we don't fail. I want this country to do well. I'm under no illusions it will be tough. It will be tough when the real EU fallout starts, and my hope is that we will be somewhat more insulated from it than we are. Particularly if we can diversify our trade arrangements and rely less on the EU. I think long-term, this will be one of the best things that ever happen to us, I sincerely believe that, and I base it on the considerable reading around of the subject, rather than just a gut feeling.

I'm sure you don't want our country to fail, but it just amazes me how many on here are desperate for the UK to burn, so they can triumphantly say "I told you so". Sad.

If we don't like it, we'll be free to vote for a party that will implement it - correct?

Our debt to GDP ratio is in the region of 90%. Japan is currently around 250%(!) and for many years now the Bank of Japan and the Government Pension Investment Fund (GPIF) have been buying stocks to inflate the market, create some kind of 'wealth effect' and bamboozle regular Japanese into pouring once again into stocks.
As with many other countries who still believe they can keep borrowing/printing money (from thin air) their way out of trouble, the chickens will eventually come home to roost (and it won't be pretty).

Yes. Those dreams of silly things like setting our own tax rate. Of making our own laws. So stupid. Such ruinous. Irrational!

I've come to the conclusion you are toxic, Kermit. You want nothing more than to see this country burn, to gain satisfaction that you were right. You will (mis)report each and every stumbling block on the way, in a pathetic bid to validate your narrow views. How every sad and petty you are.

No one knows.

No. Are you saying anyone who voted to leave so that immigration goes down won't be pished off about Davis's admission? I wouldn't call that extrapolating anything.

Really?

And what affect has this debt level had upon Japan? Their interest rates? And considering interest rates on debt is a reality for all economies that's the important actual aspect....The US for example are also massively in debt....But everyone wants to buy that US dollar bond.

This situation has been the same for decades....Decades....The 2008 crash didn't even seriously affect them. T

If the chickens come home to roast for the Japanese they will also come home to roast for every western economy.

The fact that Japan didn't import massive numbers of foreigners and create large scale social division will make absolutely no difference at all.

Are you saying that Davis will be in power once we actually leave the EU and these realities start to bite....2018 onwards and the twenties beyond.

Would you say that Davies would agree with how you are interpreting him?

You are extrapolating and calling others stupid for doing the same.
