If Lampard or Howe we’re going to be our next manager, I’m certain there would have been an announcement already as they’re both free agents. The fact that neither has signed tells me that we’re going to make a move for someone who is already tied down to a contract and therefore negotiations take longer,

There's going to be a queue around the block for this. Surely the far more logical reason is we're considering managers who already have a job?

Having said that I'm sure that Parish isn't stupid enough to be put in that position
