Regulated fare (including season ticket) rises are linked to the RPI....hence they rise more as inflation goes up significantly due to the fall in the value of sterling post the referendum,thus regulated rail fares will likely increase by more than for some time...

This January they rose 1.9% and in January 2016 1%

When you say we, who do you mean? I'm sure that people saw Germans as complete Kuntz whilst others understood that not all Germans would have liked living under Hitler's regime.

On the contrary, 'printing money' as you put it, known as QE, will weaken a currency. The reason the ECB is still on a policy of QE is to stop the Euro from strengthening even more which will make it less competitive with regard to exports. The more notes you 'print', the weaker the currency will get or at least it will slow any growth in strength.

On the other hand the massive drop in international investment flows into the UK since June 2016 has been clearly reflected in Sterling's chronic weakness, the opposite scenario for the Euro. That of course should help UK exports but since the UK manufactures very little in relative terms, raw materials and basic components have to be imported, cancelling any currency weakness benefits out.
