Tony Blair brought peace to Northern Ireland and it has lasted. It seemed impossible but he did it. With the Good Friday agreement our streets became safe from that source of terror. Who else can match that achievement for peace yet people call him a war-monger. Ridiculous.

Tony Blair was not the one who actually did all the negotiations but only ended up signing the papers. The main man was John Majors I am afraid to say.
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

You really need to get your facts right before you post,as Susmik has said John Major was the real person behind the deal.

Thats incorrect I am afraid. Tony Blair signed the Good Friday agreement on 10th April 1998, John Major was defeated in the previous election. Are you thinking of the Anglo-Irish accord?

The link you supplied is about the normalisation of Anglo-Irish relations that is Ireland and not Northern Ireland. Of course John Major deserves credit he and other PMs all tried their best. The difference is that Blair crossed the divide and brought Sinn Fein to the table nobody else would it was 'negotiating with terrorists'.
