When you die it is always for a reason, even if that reason cannot be detected. Life kills, but some life choices you make speed up the process. Also, old age is itself fraught with all kind of reasons that maybe make going out in a blaze of gluttony preferable. A life lived in fear of the consequences of everything you do, is no life either. One needs balance. Live by all means but don't try your best to kill yourself. Drinking too much, smoking, drugs, terrible diet, no exercise is going to shorten your life. It would be a shame to waste maybe a third of your life through self indulgence and most of which does not improve the quality of your life anyway. Quite the opposite.

Newspapers report his funeral is tomorrow. Listening to some of his music tonight. He had a voice like honey. A couple of his albums saw me through some hard times growing up. Supremely talented man. Sad times
