In truth Wickham didn’t doesn’t look fit to play from the first whistle to the last. Yes, he may not be match fit but it’s more than that - sadly just not good enough for the premiership or perhaps for any team to play every week?

Why not play more young guns vs Derby? Just can not get it....with our injury list that was a huge mistake from our manager.

After lamenting about the injuries this was a chance to give them a break and play the kids as Liverpool did. Maybe we would have got well beaten but I doubt it would’ve been terrible. At least the kids would’ve got experience in case they need to come into the Premier 1st team. Instead we get more injuries and a stupid suspension. It doesn’t make sense !!

It makes perfect sense if.... Roy has zero faith in any of the youngsters and/or wants to evidence that we are screwed without the purchase/loan of new players. Had he played the youngsters and they'd done well, the board would have been even more reticent to sanction new players.

Well we are now top of the Premier League, sadly it’s the PhysioRoom Premier League table. And yes I know it says Newcastle have 13 out but BBC Sport report that 6 of those are back this week. We have Zaha and interestingly Camarasa back this week.

If the youngsters had done well then surely our desperation for new players would be less by the fact that the youngsters did do well.
