It's a sad indictment on our squad that we can't get rid of those surplus to requirements and the only addition that we may make is someone who Liverpool got shot of knowing that he wasn't even worth trying to sell.

I'm not so sure about this. Yes we have 25 players that would need to be officially named in the squad but I think it's a mistake to think that players such as Woods or Wickham would block the clubs ambition to sign new players...if indeed that ambition exists at all.

I very much doubt Woods will make the 25 man list unless of course we only have 24 to choose from without him.

Also what is there to stop Palace signing a player under 21? Other than ambition of course.

We can just push Clyne or PVA further forward. No need for Sarr now, totally covered. There will be no makeshift squads this season.

Agree,as,in any event,Palace are not in a financial position to pay between £30/40m for Sarr.All press speculation and hype.

Back to the subject in hand, the suggestion of us paying £30m for this player is just crazy and isn't going to happen surely. From what I can see his strike rate is definitely not £30m rated. Why not just start playing Bats instead of Ayew?
