The reality is this is one of those games we are just going to have to chalk off as `one of those things`. Can imagine people are going to be very reactionary with the Luca hate etc but the reality is we have actually played well, created chances just hammers have been pretty ruthless in front of goal and everything they have tried has worked.

Do think we need an upgrade on Ward, especially going forwards. Do think it is worth mentioning Ayew who has been excellent.

Shame because we have looked good going forward and creating.

Except one great tackle Anderson is off it and lacks confidence to play the ball forward. He constantly looks for a nothing sideways ball across the back.

Benteke is too mechanical and a joy for defenders to read or pick his pocket. Get Mateta on ffs.

Ayew and Edouard both look dangerous.

Ward needs to practice his crossing. He either flip flops between too short or too long. His feel for the cross is terrible.

The beatings will stop when morale improves.

Generally not playing badly but usual suspects are letting us down. Luka is flat out s***, Ward getting skinned for pace and Benteke is taking his usual 3-5 decent chances to bury one.

The game is realistically gone but hopefully we can see more than 5 mins of Eze and Olise.

We have actually not been bad but lack finishing skills and our defence is being caught out.

The captain is a liability, he adds nothing to either defence or midfield, instinctively passes backwards and is, to be honest, a waste of space.

Our best chance is to bring on the ball players we have (Olise and/ or Eze) - what have we got to lose ?

Joel Ward has been an amazing servant, but hopefully this January we find a right back up to scratch.
