I've been listening to it in sections as I can only stomach so many mushrooms at a time

Quite decent, I like the soothing piano when it drops in, very soothing amongst the psychedelia

What can this strange device be?
When I touch it it gives forth a sound.

The pianist (Cyrille Verdeaux) wrote the Clearlight Symphony, which he released at roughly the same time.
Gong had just broken up and he plays on that album with the likes of Tim Blake, Steve Hillage and Didier Malherbe from same.
