Action taken beyond the 20 odd people, who may or may not have done anything, probably having to move and find new school for their kids? You seem to be assuming they lost their jobs for no reason, or just because of Rafiq's claims. I trust that a proper investigation has taken place and, if not, they will refer their dismissals to an employment tribunal. It seems very heavy-handed to me, and quite possibly counter-productive, but I am looking in from the outside, like all of us here are.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Commenting on situations in which you’re directly involved is what Facebook is for.

Does it? I don't see how anyone, other than those taking the action, can know. I would hope that investigations and interviews would take place to verify and understand. What Rafiq has done is open a door and allowed those with closed eyes and ears to see and hear what is inside. His own character, whatever it may be, is not a direct issue. Indeed, from all I heard, he hasn't attempted to portray himself as anything special and accepted he was part of the problem. It's others who built him up, to prepare him for the inevitable knockdown so beloved of the tabloids. Well if it is still be investigated why have they “left”? Not sure all media outlets were setting him up for inevitable knockdown, the usual culprits jumped on the race/ discrimination bandwagon, initially on his word

16 people have lost their jobs we don't know the details or even if the process was fair. Rafiq has stirred up a hornet's nest and anyone who has been impacted by his allegations is entitled to question his credibility and motives. People in glass houses etc.

Rafiq's allegations not investigated properly and Vaughan deservedly cleared. A case built entirely on Rafiq's word with no actual evidence at all - with everyone dying to believe him.

Notice how they still use the weasel words "on balance of probabilities" - still trying to continue the smearing of his reputation.

The English and Welsh Cricket Board, have ironically taken a Scottish Law term, "Not Proven", which is a weaselly way of getting themselves out of a fix. It doesn't clear Vaughan , in Scottish Law, but would better be termed 'innocent' as he should be under English/Welsh law.
I disengage, I turn the page. |
