Thisn't actually news. Its a decent article reviewing the pros and cons of Benteke as a striker for Palace but doesnt give any clue as to whether the move is even 1% closer

If everyone is right in their thinking this is about whether he wants to come here or not. He's been told there is no future at Liverpool and I haven't seen any other top 15 clubs making any noise anywhere in Europe. So he has got a big decision to make, Liverpool sidelines or us. Sadly he hasn't come close to being caught by the Palace magic.
We are a rare club with special stuff going on. The guy is obviously not that bright or he would realise there is nowhere better to resurrect his career. If he had come to us all upbeat to prove a point we could easily have ended up in the top 6 and then the guy would have been a hero. As it is I am thinking this bloke stands for everything bad in pro football. Greedy stupid and lacking vision. OK maybe don't fall in love with us, but at least use us as a platform to prove his talent. Personally I would be done witho him now. Although I think he would be great here I don't believe his heart would be in it and that is EVERYTHING at the Palace. Tell me a player you can remember who wasn't in love with our club? I can't.

Or maybe he feels gutted he hasn't made it a huge club like Liverpool and is takin his time in deciding if he fights for his place or takes that step backwards to try to move forward.
You can't really blame the guy for having a think about it, whilst on his holidays....

It's quite likely he'll give it till January and if anybody is really desperate, they'll offer him a tempting move. The problem is 2 of 4 of the 5 clubs at the bottom will be promoted clubs and the others will be no bigger than us. He is in a sort of football wage trap, only he also wants a raise, not just a match of his £120k per week LFC wages.

He really doesn't merit all this ongoing attention.
If he was coming our way I suspect he would have arrived by now. Chances are he's holding out for a more glamorous destination or a bigger pay cheque ...or probably both.

Quite possibly the worst performance in the last 30 years (including 9-0 against a Liverpool team that in those days would have been considered pretty good.
Kevin Miller's performance was simply unbelievable.

My money's on Benteke signing on or soon after the 23rd. The silence from both clubs speaks volumes to me, as does the odds by the professionals saying he'll be at Palace by the start of the season. Also, his value goes down the longer he waits, and clubs like Palace are shopping NOW - not necessarily in January, where the bidders will be the bottom strugglers with more risk and pressure. He is probably reading about our current bids for alternatives too which if we secure, makes his deal less likely. It's a waiting game, but I think after next weekend we'll all have a better idea of the situation. Whatever, why should we sweat when we've bought our recent trio and still shopping for more?
