Not just because of today but he is the best manager we have had for a long time. Sometimes it's not pretty but he gets the job done. We look like a very hard side to play against and that'll do for me. Nice one Roy, well done.

In fact, Roy Hodgson had the nerve to manage a team that convincingly beat the mighty Manchester United. This is something that should not be tolerated! Roy has received a lot of stick, not always justified, but he has had to go with what he has been given. The style of play, often not too attractive and with less goals than we would have wanted (not really his fault that Benteke's forgotten how to score !!),does produce results and I am not sure how many other managers 3 years ago could have come in and turned a start of P7 L7 into comfortable survival. Arguably, this is the first transfer window that Mr Parish has finally backed him and if, as things are rumoured, there are more arrivals likely, hopefully we can look forward to a season of improvement where we continue to pull off more 'shock wins' against 'the big clubs'. I imagine, also given some of the players linked and signed, he is also getting to grips with the thorny issue of succession planning post Wilf. Keep going.

The rigidity in our play, defensive shape even against weaker teams and persistence with 4-5-1 which meant the wide players were closer to our own goal than the opponent’s. Looks like Hodgson has had a change of heart in the summer and is now playing 4-4-2 which many fans wanted. We look better balanced all over the field and Zaha is freed from some of his defensive responsibilities. Let’s hope for more of the same.

I think Roy should go if the right manager comes along but as i said in earlier post new players and some good youngsters I am willing to wait, he is not a young man our Roy but thank you 2 attacking subs never been know
