'Dazza talk' (could have own tab on here) aside, here is the/a piece on Hodgson's concerns in the evening standard - I think he is correct to say so. If there are behind the scenes dealings it would be very strange indeed that Roy would not even have an inkling about them, though this could be the case. Even so, all very close to season start. It's concerning when the first team is looking incomplete, and even then Olise may be going. When the squad looks equally light it either looks like disaster striking or complete incompetence from the top. I expect a continual rotation of Schlupp, Ayew, Edouard, Mateta, Olise(??), Franca (????), Eze in the front 3 next season, without Roy or us knowing which combination will work best for any given game. I expect the same at RB too with Clyne/Ward/Richards/other. That's all before potential injuries. Perhaps a bit of catastrophising from me there but it doesn't look great as things stand. Would be lovely to go into the season with a bit of 'here we go, let's see what we can do' as opposed to 'I'm just praying this doesn't end in disaster'. I am more inclined towards the latter atm. #Palacefanlife

I think if we are after a player of Olise's calibre in Olise's position, there are rumours of others sniffing around him, it's safe for the selling club to assume we are looking to replace him, so whether we do it before or after, in today's market doesn't make much of a difference.

I think Dazza should make an alpha numeric spreadsheet of our targets on Excel and then upload it as a file or a link. Then maybe a dossier with Word converted to PDF for each player. Nothing fancy, just a typical scouting report with number of touches per game, heat map etc. Of course, rough valuations and agent's contact details would be handy.

Not only does the selling club not know how much we have in our pocket from an Olise sale (anywhere between £35-70m according to the press) but also because he is under contract, we are not in a position of desperation. This is all assuming that he doesn't have this release clause but we can say to him "We will sell you Michael but only if we sign a replacement first and get a bid of this amount". Either of those things don't happen? We don't sell. That gives us power in the situation that we don't have by selling him first and then fannying around trying to buy a replacement on deadline day.
