I keep hearing how the French benefits system is sooooooooo much more generous than ours. I have to say this is a new one on me, I even remember the mayor of Calais blaming the Calais migrant crisis on our ridiculously generous benefits system.
Of course I believe there is something in the argument that they have family already here which would make them want to come here, but let's face it, our benefits system is ridiculously generous. I've even seen migrants interviewed on the news and when asked why they want to come here the answer was 'britain...she give me house...she give me money. We come Britain for our house and money, thanks!'. I didn't make that up, I actually heard it said on the news. Also the fact that they've travelled across umpteen borders and hundreds and thousands of miles to get here is a dead give away as to why they want to come here. Like I say, I don't blame them for wanting to benefit from such generosity but this can't be allowed to keep happening. The politicians also need to take some of the blame here.

Either way this must stop now. There are plenty of countries in Europe who can take them. We're full and simply can't sustain this mass influx of people, and we must stop giving money away like this. We have people in this country who are British who need our help.

Do you have numbers or statistics to back up the claim that we are 'full'?
The French benefit system is more generous than here, which gives proof to the lie that migrants come here for the money. The main factors that draw people to england are the language, cultural ties and that they have family and friends here.

It should also be noted that only a miniscule percentage of refugees make their way to england and that other european countries are already taking far more in than this country.

No. Do you have proof that they don't come here for the money? Some statistics?

Thank you for being so honest. Now that you have admitted that your bigoted opinions are based on nothing then hopefully you can move forward, i wish you luck.

I'm sure that if you use google you can find plenty more articles and proof that the UK is not the "ridiculously generous benefits system" that you have been duped into believing in.

So you put some graph up and expect that to convince me? As for my 'bigoted' opinions, well I guess that makes me a bigot. The thing is that people that I work with-Caucasion, Afro-Caribbean and Asian, they all have similar views so they must be bigots too. It's not just people I work with, neighbours who have similar opinions, they must be bigots too. They all have similar opinions so they must be racist, just because they don't have a little graph that could have been mocked up on a home computer.
That's the problem with prats like you. Anyone who dares disagrees with you and to hell with the facts, they're a racist, a foaming at the mouth, swivel eyed BNP voter.
When some left wing knob calls me a bigot I wear it with pride because I know that's the best they can come up with, oh that and a silly little graph. If that graph is true Mr Ghostweasel, then why do they all wish to come here? Is there another little graph you can pull out the air?

-Can i have some statistics as proof?

-Yes, here you go.

-I refuse to accept these statistics as they don't back-up what i say.....wahhhh, wahhh, wahhh.

Hope you didn't lose your dummy when you threw it out.

What on earth??? If you say so you silly little girl. Can you explain to me why we're called 'soft touch Britain'? Go on, call me a racist, you know you want to

Because gullible people lap it up because it backs up their own innate prejudice. Grow up.

I did a lot of growing up fighting in war zones and being part of that great institution, The British Army.

So when the residents of the Calais migrant camp are interviewed about why they want to come to England and they repeatedly give economic reasons, what you are saying is that they are all actually lying and are in fact risking their lives to come here to visit their friends instead?
The UK may or may not provide the most generous potential benefits. I honestly don’t know as I have never looked in any depth to see that other countries offer. What I can say with absolute certainty is that the perception is that Britain is the most generous country and that above all else is why these people don’t wish to stay in France or any other country they have passed through.

Also, how much in welfare is a migrant going to be getting, isn't the top end 25k now (less than 1% of benefits claim's were 25k or more). Given that requires a full raft of benefits including a wife/husband and several kids, once you take housing benefit out of the equation.

We should offer a deal. Anyone who does 10 years in the military or civil work is automatically granted citizenship for them, their partner and their children.

These guys are lobbing bricks at passing lorries, threatening to slit the throats of the drivers, damaging property, attacking police, attempting to illegally enter a country without authorisation....

....so let them join our army? Are you absolutely fcuking insane?

They sound like just about everybody who was in the army when I was. I'm sure we'd take them in with open arms - as long as they don't mind being chunkies or paras.

Well, i can't speak for what interviews you have seen but i haven't noticed that they 'repeatedly' give economic reasons although i don't deny that this is sometimes mentioned. I would say that the most common answer in interviews i've seen is that they have family/friends here.
I suggest that you do some investigating about the relative benefits from various countries and let us know what you find.
Your 'certainty' seems to me to be somewhat illogcal. If the perception was as you state then why do the vast majority of migrants stay in France or other countries within the EU. If the situation was how you claim then there really should be the 'swarm' of migrants that certain politicians have told us to be on the lookout for rather than the relatively low numbers that are threatening to 'flood us'.

I also know how fortunate people are to live in Monaco, Cannes, and Nice, Dan, but I don't turn up on their doorstep demanding a free slice of their lavish lifestyle not having contributed or worked towards it though?

I know Bristol's not exactly the Maldives but I'm not sure you've ever been forced to flee from war or famine or fear of being forcefully raped.

There's only one keyboard warrior here, and you're really not a very good one. When do you go back to school?

Genius wit. Simply breathtaking. You completely managed to copy what i'd said. Must be all that 'training' you got in the armed forces eh?

Are you a little bit jealous because you've done nothing with your life? Ahhh diddums!Something else for you to cry about. What a dull, witless wonder you are. I find it hard to believe you're a Palace fan.

Not a friend in the world eh? Not even on the internet? My heart goes out to you.

I've plenty of friends thanks, I'm just glad you're not one of them, as you are tedious, childish and just, well, pathetic. I think I'll go and talk to some grown ups, it's pretty sad sitting in front of a computer all day name calling, only sexually inadequate bozo's do that

Ghost - may I ask what your solution would be for the migrants based in calais?
