I asked another mackem friend of mine about PVA and he said pretty much what you have. Better attacking than defending. I'm not totally unhappy with that as that seems to be the way with modern full backs. The days of Emlyn Hughes and Stuart Pearce are long gone. A full back who loved to come forward ! He used to be a trainee electrician and Bobby Gould who took him to Coventry from Wealdstone still refers to him as 'Sparky'.

They can defend its just that full backs defend "differently" now, more about standing players up. There was one moment on Saturday where Schlupp got back and made a great sliding tackle. Though arguably he put himself in that position in the first place. As for price, time will tell. Townsend seemed a bargain, not so much now.

I am sure that if we supported scunthorpe then it would be a similar story.
