Agreed, although of course we may just be protecting the asset. Certainly his development into a player good enough for our team is not to be presumed.

That said, he's done well and scored goals on his loan. He's on a 1 in 3 goals to games ratio having played every week more or less, whereas most of our young loan players achieve little or nothing when they get games in adult football.

Whilst we need to get some bodies in, I can’t see us spending 100m.

I also doubt we’ll sell this window, unless the offers are ridiculous. But I don’t think anyone has been playing well enough to get a ridiculous offer.

We’ve shown that we can be fairly shrewd, and broadly, a c.20m player goes straight into the first team (CD, JA, MG) and a c.10m player is a squad player to grow into the first team or deputise for he odd game (CR, NA)

I reckon we’ll do:

Lokonga c.20mll
Back up CM c.10m
Young RB c.10m
Young CB c.10m
Ont laugh
We won’t sign a new striker
We won’t sign a direct Wilf replacement
We wont sign another LB

We already have another young midfielder in Ahamada. And (don't laugh) we stil have Ferguson on our books and he completed 45 mins without mishap I believe. If Ferguson does recover and stays fit, he's both an RB and a CB. We then have to dig up a really good young striker who nobody's ever heard of. Dougie, you can do it!

If Man U and also Spurs are (clickbait suggests, which doesn't mean very much) Zaha might well be of elsewhere in the PL on a free...

I don't think Zaha will turn down a decent offer from a top PL Club? John Textor, we need you!

There never was any such bid. Rumour of an interest from Everton and Arsenal, nothing more. Then Arsenal spent £72m on Zaha's compatriot, Pepe, ha ha, work that one out.

The rumours at the time were that the selling club were happy to let Arsenal pay for Pepe over 5 years whereas we were hungry for the cash

I believe at the time Parish put a £80m price tag on Zaha's head.
I didn't expect any team to come in for him at that price, it's almost as if Parish had no intention to sell...
Parish as used car dealer: a fleet of Fords, Toyotas and Skodas, with a Roller than he is reluctant to let go, maybe at over market price and if the price is right.

Viera said yesterday he is hopeful he’ll sign …

Zaha (according to clickbait) has interest from Arsenal? Of course it's all rumour, but my personal view is it's highly likely he'll be off to a top 6 club on a free in the summer transfer window?

In my opinion for what it’s worth , I can’t see him staying in England if he does leave , I think he’ll go abroad

Edit : hmm I think I’ve changed my mind , reading that article

The Mail, not the most reliable source, is reporting that Zaha has been offered a new deal at Palace worth £200,000 per week.
Extraordinary sums if true, but perhaps it reflects his value to the club and the huge potential cost of replacing him.
I don’t think he’s had a particularly good season, but he remains our only real dangerous attacker.

I wouldn't expect anywhere else except Saudi or China to be paying that money for him.

I would love wilf to win a trophy. He only has a few years left. If Arsenal come calling he should go!

Surely he is fed up with relegation and s***e football with us.

I take your point but is he more fed up than the fans? Some on here have had 60+ years of it.
