This thread sums up perfectly why I don't like the "open environment" of club management we have entered.

I prefer the good old days of a press release and statement.

I appreciate what CPFC2010 are doing for the club and think they made the right decision but as owners they don't need to justify themselves to a lot of jumped up idiots and, quite honestly, I wish they wouldn't.

I know I'm pretty much alone in THAT thinking.

Normally I would disagree but actually in this instance I think you're right. As grateful as I am for SP for coming on and answering questions, I think he unnecessarily opened himself up to a lot of flak on this occasion. The reasons behind the sacking were obvious - results simply haven't been good enough - and that's essentially all he's said. It could have just been done in a press release and saved a lot of time.

This post is dedicated to the bloke I hit in the face in celebration.

Can we get back to what the thread is about, and not certain fans continually slagging each other off, and also, some of the stupid posts that have been posted IMO.

1.Whilst we need stability will you be looking for a more experianced Manager who will command the respect of the players and be given time & money to shape his own squad. We also need to keep some of the backroom staff as well. Dougie is one for the future and should be allowed to learn his trade with us, as he does know the club and has the respect of the players. It was also a good move to appoint Steve Kember as Chief Scout.(Possible long term planning)

2.The youth players that we have that have come into the squad have done well. Is it the boards plan to give these players medium to long term contracts to also give us stability and a good long term future.
To many times we have sold players just for that extra bit of cash. Two examples John Bostock who is going on loan to all sorts of clubs, and Wayne Routledge who has now had more clubs that Arnold Palmer, and he is still young. They should have been encouraged to stay at Palace.3.It's about time Palace started to realise it's potential as a medium to big club. There is huge potential to attract fans going south from Croydon. What plans do you have to attract more fans.

4.Your comparing our wage bill to Doncaster, Swansea, etc.We are better than that and looking at the division as a whole we are one of the bigger teams (Although you wouldn't think so at the moment).Do you have a wage structure in place that will attract the right sort of players, and maybe reward them for success within in that structure.

5.I know that you are working on this, but how far down the line are you with making the club shop larger and more inviting, with out fans bumping into each other at every turn. Also when i go into shops in Crawley, Horsham, etc,I see other clubs merchandise. What plans are there to possibly get our merchandise into some of these outlets. I know The previous chairman was against this, but I feel that was a big mistake.

We didn't sell Bostock as he left without signing a pro contract, and i don't think we sold Routeledge either.
We encouraged both to stay but they were greedy b******s and left for the money or thought they were too good for us.

That's kinda my point of view, too.

Don't agree with me; my credibility is going to die this year apparently. Ask my stalker, Eager eagle.

I'm new to this message board and was having a look round at some of the Q & A session.

My opinon is that is was probably the right time for George Burley to go, the results weren't happening on a consisent enough basis, and i don't feel that he would have made a significant difference given the extra month or two.

I can see why the comment was made, that if Burley had won at Millwall he might've been given more time. I think that The Chairman obviously wanted to give George as much of an opportunity as he could.

Another response i read on here was regarding money, and how much was available. Whilst i think its important to know that there is some i don't think we need to know figures on these forums, surely you want to keep your hand close to chest when negotiating deals for wages and signing's.

Moving on i think (ironically) we are in a potentially good postion here, in the fact that Steve Coppell is available. Above that I believe given he's history with the club, knowledge of the game and success he is just what the club need right now.

I don't care if this is an obvious response, without a shadow of doubt he is the man to turn it around for us. give him the time, resource and allow him to get on with it.

Also i believe bringing back Coppell makes sense from a finnancial standpoint as i believe he will put bums back on seats at Selhurst Park both short and long term.

I know some people are for and some against this open stance taken by the owners of the club. I'm not sure whether its the right or wrong thing to do. However i do like the fact that they might read what's been written here. Instead of just the usual back and forth between the fans.

Good luck for tomorrow to Dougie and the boys!!!

Interesting comments on twitter from journalist and Palace fan Neil Ashton:

'at ipswich he was fully in control, built exciting team with good players. He didn't focus at Palace, shouldn't have taken job.'

'For all those asking this isn't the same GB who was top class and focused at Ipswich, this is a very different man. Terrible choice.'

'George Burley always going to be a disastrous appointment at the Coloseum, Palace should have done this weeks ago.'

i'm stunned at some of the people/posts on here.

it ranges from s***, stupid, repetitive questions being asked, to people complaining that their questions weren't answered (mine weren't, my toys are still in the pram) to people recommending Steve 'keep his mouth shut' and others damning it a publicity stunt!

...unbelievable.

And i'm sorry, but i have to say it:

Prin_cpfc, you have come across as a right spoiled, unreasonable, attention-seeking brat. I have no idea how old you are but if you're anything over 17 years old, it's very worrying.
Steve Parish doesn't have to answer directly to you (or anyone) and even when he does, you STILL continue to snipe and whinge. "I hope i still feel awful so i don't go on Monday."

Pathetic. Stay away Monday and try to grow up.

Before I reply to your rubbish can you answer one question, did you also think I was being serious about the sexism thing as well?

I didn't mention that, so why should you?

Plus, I wasn't really looking to enter a discussion with you- i made my judgement based on what you have said over the course of this thread and not what you are about to say in response to that judgement.

Have a nice day.

So you are not going to answer and you tell me to grow up. Before you start judging someone you know nothing about, I'd advise actually trying to find out what sort of person they are.

From what I have read, you obviously need to get off your high horse. I tell you what though, I will go on Monday and I'll cancel my season ticket. One less out of the 13k that go won't make a difference, eh?

from what i've read of this thread that you come across as somewhat of an attention seeker. If you dont want to go against Preston then don't go... telling the whole world about it seems a bit pathetic.

Is the best answer to that

Is the most sensible thing you have said to date.

Amusing coming from you

Your a bird, on a football website, talking bollicks and your surprised your getting grief.

Surely their must be an X factor, or strictly re run on telly somewhere for you to watch.

P.s.

If this is the sort of thing you post as your status then I would suggest it tells us all we need to know about you

Edited by dannyh (02 Jan 2011 12.44pm)

Think I'll get a season ticket at Croydon Athletic next season. Their fans aren't jumped up pricks that think they know you. Isn't a flounce, just fed up with jumped up pricks.

Shaaaaaaaaaaaaadddd appppppppp

Are you serious??? If you are then you are a prize c*** who needs a slap

i think is encouraging that we have an openess about the club, where fans are encouraged to have a say in the running of the club when before we just had jordans autocratic style. We all know whats sort of trouble that lead to.

if you dont agree with it why are you openly taking part?

come on lets be unique and be a proper community club ; if were a chelsea fan id want to know why wilkins was sacked or hughton at toon. im glad we dont have dictators running our club

Burley has gone.

Parish has come on here and told us why.

Dougie is in charge tomorrow.

A new manager will be in place as soon as 2010 can get the right one for them.

For me, that's it, enough said.

Time to move on, go to the game tomorrow and give it everything we've got. Then get behind the new guy, whoever it is.

Well said. im with you on that.

me too, well done

Agree. Better open to all than closed and aloof.

Furthermore it prevents unnecessary speculation, misinformation and rumour around a variety of topics important to the fans of this club. Surely this is better than the almost inevitable misinterpretation of a press release or statement.

Quote geoff at 02 Jan 2011 12.10pm

I think sometimes we should just chill out and realise other people have different opinions. That's no bad thing!

We also need to remember that when Steve and the guys took control they did so to avoid the club going completely!

This is their first go at club ownership with no experience of it but they do have huge experience in business which is where the long term safety of our team will be based, on successful business planning and careful financial management.

Of course they want a return at some point on their investment and of course they will know that a return has a better chance based on investment.

The club was in turmoil this time last year and we should not forget what CPFC2010 have done for us and the club.

Rebuilding takes time and the first priority should be as it was last year to ensure our place in the Championship. Then use next season as the platform to drive on. GB in the owners eyes was nit the right person to achieve is. I trust and reedy their decision but as the saying goes you can't please all of the people all of the time as long as people share their opinions with respect of others this could be and should be a happy forum to debate on not a place to receive a slagging from people that don't agree with you!

We are all Palace so come on lets get behind the owners, the team and whoever is our next manager!!!!!!!

TOP POST!! and very well said geoff

Do you actually have a shortlist in place or will you decide that if/when cv's are received?

we have a short . short list

a short short list, that can only include Gary Johnson and Gianfranco Zola then

gianfranco stands at 5'5 and a half, though he is a big football man .

gave stanislav and zines their debuts ; and had the likes of collison, tomkins and sears as regulars.

its noticeable that avram grant has turned to playing the youngsters in west ham recent upturn.

zola is 44 i think so we need to be looking for a young energetic manager if you are looking at long term progress

our strength has to be through our academy. in the short short term then dougie has to jump into the fire. malky mackay did the same at watford in between managers before taking over. whether freedman is ready we will have some idea in the next few games.

i dont think you can rule out zola bacause he is 44 years old, still got 20 years as a manager if he does well.

on another note to my previous post, does anybody think stuart pearce would like a league job again after excelling with the U21's?

good call!!! would love to see Pearce take charge. would surely put a bit of fight back into the team.
