Not a serious gambler, just like a bit of fun on a Saturday. To be fair going for easy doubles each night is a sensible way of building up.

For Saturday though I fancy

QPR to beat Villa - (1/1)
Watford to beat Barnsley - (4/6)
Arsenal to beat Swansea (2/5)
Palace to beat Brighton (6/5)
Millwall to beat Charlton (6/5)

Odds of 19.53

Stick a tenner on that and see what happens.

Good selections, I like 'em, but I personally wouldn't go for the derbies. Even though it's a bit of fun, probably better to go in a bit larger for 3 fav's and then a smaller stake on those 3 + 2. Everyone has their method however.

You could perm 4 out of 5, 5 fourfolds, 1 fivefold.

6 bets.

To make this simple, say if you got odds of 10/1 for a 5 games 5fold (which is likely with evens teams), what odds do you reckon you'll get on a 4 of 5 perm? Probably half? So, to keep it simple, say if you stake £10...

How much do you reckon you'd get in return if 4 won and not the longest odds team and how much do you reckon you'd get in return if 4 won and the shortest odds team lost? I've made the question simple by just making one team losing...

£1.66 per bet. Is it:

Say the 4 out of 4 are around 8/1. Half that for a 4 of 5 perm. 4 x £1.66 = £6.66 x 4 or 5?
Plus the possible 5 out of 5 of 5/1 x £1.66 = £8.33?

Possibly 4 x £6.66 = £26.66 ? or
Possibly 5 x £6.66 + £8.33 = £41.66 ?

And what about stake back?

Edited by Rudi Hedman (29 Nov 2012 9.39am)

No. If you back 5 selections at even money for £10 you would win £320

4 selections would be £160

So your outlay would be £60 and you would win either

£0.......0,1,2,3 correct
£160.....4 correct
£1,120...5 correct

I meant 6 bets x £1.66 = £10 stake.

Anyway, now you're talking total stake of £60 (6 x £10 bets), it's probably easier to follow.

I agree on the £160.....4 correct, but not on the
£1,120...5 correct.

All 5 results being correct (5 teams of your choice winning), aren't you more likely to win about £350 ish? £1,120 is about 19/1 on an or/if sort of bet that is only 10/1 on a fivefold accumulator of 5 selections. i.e - doesn't make sense.

Firstly you've said the stake is £60 (6 x £10). Now you're telling me because there's a £1,120 win, the stake is £800.

What is your stake for this bet? This has muddled somewhere.

1. What is the stake?
2. What is the win for 4 fourfold's out of 5 correct?
3. What is the win for 5 fourfold's out of 5 correct AND obviously all 5 correct?

Manchester double. Only 0.76/1 but easy money. Thats my bet tonite, throw in Southampton or Stoke if you want a treble

Well done. When Stoke went 0-1 down I told myself this would've been the bet I would've gone for in a week with no tempters in. However, for some reason I also didn't go for Celtic and didn't go for West Brom peaking and losing to Swansea away midweek.

Easy money. I settled for just the double in the end but put £50 on it!

Well I agree with what you've said with the 1 wrong result killing 4 of the 5 bets, but what you said in 2 separate posts wasn't making sense together. Plus I'm talking about 8/1 on a normal 5 from 5 and what you've said is 19/1 if all 5 come in. i.e - not gonna happen. The possibilities, as you know, are:

1,2,3,4
1,2,3,5
1,2,4,5
1,3,4,5
2,3,4,5
1,2,3,4,5

What I'm trying to get at is how do you get to those winnings? You must be looking at some seriously high odds because on your 4 from 5 it works out at 19 times return of your stake for all 5 to come in on a £60 bet to return £1,120. Those same 5 results on a normal fivefold (all 5 only or nothing) must be nearer 32/1, therefore the individual choices must be unfavoured.

I am looking at shorter bets on football matches. I am betting on 5 matches with odds of 8/1, give or take a little, out to 12/1, on all 5 to come in, if I'm looking at a 5fold.

If I bet £60 and win at 8/1, I win £480 + stake back. If I go for a 4 from 5 perm and bet 6 x £10 (£60 stake), what do you think I get back for 1 right or all 5 bets right? That is going to be more like £300 max, zero minimum, or a small return of under or over £60, depending on the choices that win.
