Have to say not impressed with central defence at Chelsea. Get some width in and two forwards attacking with pace and directness with just Jedi as DM and an AM (Bannan or Guediora) will give us more of a chance of creating goal scoring opportunities.

For me, Thomas and Bolasie out wide with Puncheon as impact sub. Puncheon drives me nuts, as he ALWAYS turns inside, apart from his cross for Jerome's goal before Xmas. Also, bit short on pace for me.

Chelsea react badly to being put under pressure so why not. Everyone expects a Chelsea win, and we are LONG OVERDUE a win against a top 8 side, so why not this Saturday.

Selhurst will be loud and we need to really help the lads out.

10-0-0 is a more likely formation to be honest

Agreed. We need to at least have a go at them because we're running out of games fast and playing for 0-0 draws every week won't keep us in the league.

The lack of goals from open play is worrying and playing Jerome or Murray on their own in a defensive 4-5-1 won't help.

It would be suicide, we'd be completely overrun in midfield.

That's not the point. Playing 4-5-1 and packing the middle of the park with 3 defensive midfielders will only lead to about 20% possession, no shots on target and an inevitable close defeat to nil.

We need to start playing with 2 up top for home games or the front man becomes isolated and the ball comes straight back. If we're going to go down then we at least need to start attempting to do more than play for a goal less draw every week and actually attempt to win a game. Villa went at Chelsea and got the result they needed so why can't we?

Well it is the point. To go 4 v 5 in the middle of the park, given the gulf in class between the players, would literally be suicide, we'd be chasing shadows for 90 minutes.

We can become more adventurous without going 4-4-2, it's a completely outdated system and is constantly punished at the top level.

Hopefully we will use the same tactics that Villa used recently, with a big dollop of luck thrown in.

Perhaps Chelsea used up their goal quota against Arsenal last weekend and we hit the back of the net a couple of times to seal victory.

Then again i might be just clutching at straws....

TP went all out defence for the last five games against the likes of Swansea, Sunderland and Southampton, how can you possibly believe that will change against a team going for the title?
Two banks of five and a lot of prayers, I feel.

I'm not necessarily saying 4-4-2 but at least 4-4-1-1 because the ball doesn't stick when it goes forward. What is the point in playing Jedi, KG and Ledley together in a line about 10 yards in front of our own box? We have seen one solitary penalty and hardly any shots that have troubled any keeper in the last 5 games. No goals from open play in the last 471 minutes (longer if you count the previous goal which was Chamakh's pen) of football suggests that it's the defensive 4-5-1 that is outdated and will be our downfall

I was agreeing to this post in general not the topic, but obviously you insist on being pedantic. My thoughts echo what he says about being more adventurous not necessarily about a 442

Whatever we do I want us to at least have a go, get stuck in, and not be timid in the manner that we have been against the likes of Arsenal and Moan Utd. The 4 2 nil defeats were weak and we need to get about chelscum from the start. Playing for a draw will only get us into trouble. Villa got amongst them the other week and Norwich were at Spurs' throats from the off a few weeks before. We've got to get stuck in!
