Would be interesting to hear any old stories from pre 1960 as that seems to be the span the HOL community seems to stretch too.

Surely a few of you (syd ;-)) have tales from Fathers and Grand fathers etc...

Wouldn't it be great to hear something from someone who had a ditto from the early beginnings 1905 or even from when selhurst was just built etc

DJ John Peel once said: "Supporting Palace has a certain cult value, like pretending that some Peruvian rock band is the best in the world."

My old man was at the barrow game as a kid when we won 9-0 (1959) he says he remembers sliding down the muddy banks singing "we want 10".

Ah, the muddy banks. I started in about 1962/3, and used to stand on the steps of the Croydon Hospital Radio Shed above where the Arthur Waite is now, precisely to avoid slipping down.

I was at that game too (aged 9), and remember the "we want Ten" shout.
A,little publicised, fact about that game though is that the Barrow keeper was knocked cold and stretchered off the field.
He returned later ( no subs then), but in fairness didn`t look too good from then on.

Was also at the 9-2 v Accrington.

Is this a five minute argument, or the full half hour? [Link]
