Not sure why we are looking at signing these others when the setup we have now has kept us up (and yes will be sussed out next season) and Gayle and ffs are in the frame too. I believe TP will have a setup planned for next season and although similar to this seasons will have Ledley alongside Jedi and Chamakh or ffs playing behind CJ or Gayle. He will have targets in mind but until we know what his tactics are for next season it is naive to guess as to potential strikers. One lay point yes we didn't score too many this season and CJ missed a few but we defended from the front conceded few (relatively) and he more than played his part in that.
Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

I don't quite get why quite a few fans think Jordan Rhodes would be a good signing especially now we are a mid-table Prem side. What is so special about him and if he is that good why is he playing in The Championship?

Yes we've stayed up but let's not kid ourselves that we're too good to get the likes of Jordan Rhodes and Aaron Cresswell. These players are very good and ooze potential. Why I like Rhodes is because he holds the ball up well, has a terrific work rate but also scores lots and lots of goals. Will that transfer at Prem level? Who knows. That's a risk you take wherever you get a striker from. Look at Bony and Wolfswinkel. Both originate from Dutch league (albeit wolfswinkel had a spell in Portugal) and both have had very different seasons. At the right price I'd like Rhodes. Think he has the ability to step up.

Why fix something that ain't broke?! I'd be surprised if we finished higher next season as someone said, teams will suss us out. Cameron Jerome doesn't score loads but it's his energy and work rate at putting opposition under pressure that helps create the chances that lead to the goals. So, why not sign Cameron Jerome?! Redmond, Zaha and Moses would do nicely too but we have no chance of getting Moses. Why would a soon to be Premier League winner make such a drop to us?

Learn Bolasie how to shoot, and voila, we have a fantastic striker. Then get Moses back to take the right flank..

I think we should try for Bendtner again. Big, strong and scores goals...even if he is somewhat hard to like as a person. I think bigger clubs will also now be more likely to loan us a quality striker. I don't think there is a snowballs chance in hell Pulis would take a gamble on an unknown foreign striker yet...especially one that's not tall and powerful. By far our biggest asset is the teamwork - everybody singing from the same song sheet and playing for each other. Bendtner doesn't strike me as a team player - like Campana and Darren Bent, for that matter. The striker we get needs to accept that he's part of a team and to be willing to do as he's told. Pulis will be pulling the strings and whoever we get will have to accept that they're one of the puppets, not the puppet master...

Would love Bony but don't know what his wage demands would be. Swansea paid £12 Mill for him ! Bony would be my choice, he's a better version of Andy Carroll, whereas Carroll was 35 million!

If only there were some sort of global tournament this summer where the world's best players would be on display. Probably too late to organise one now but would have been a great place to look for a quality foreign player at a reasonable price. Oh well.

"Clubs will suss us out next season" Not much to suss out is there really, and yet they can't stop us presently. Sit back, soak up pressure, counter attack down the wings and get everyone working hard. However, I still think we need a more effective Plan B when this system isn't quite working. Murray doesn't strike me as an impact player (although Swansea away could suggest otherwise) and thus needs to be starting games to have any meaningful effect. Can we afford to start Murray in the Premier League? As for Gayle, he has a goal in him but not too much else. To sustain ourselves in the Prem, we have to be cut-throat and I'd probably get rid of both Gayle and Murray if it meant freeing up two extra spots for two "better" strikers.

We have one. His name is Glenn Murray. And Dwight Gayle is going to be bloody good too.
