....and live in them ourselves. That way, no 'neighbours' will protest against any planning applications to improve our Stadium.

To be honest, the Main Stand has a car park behind it and is the wrong side of the sky to block out any neighbour's light - if it was to get a second tier dropped on top.

Only the players would get the sun blocked out, which is probably a good thing seeing as we often have games where the pitch is 50-50 sun/shade making it difficult to watch on the telly.

and if the fans do not want to live beside Selhurst then it makes sense for employees of CPFC to have a point of presence there ?

so, cmon eagles. Lets colonise SE25 in body as well as in mind.

The "sunlight" argument has always been a cover for the real complaint, too many people in too small an area. There will have to be a lot of thinking outside the boc if Selhurst is to be redeveloped in a manner that causes the least amount of disruption to the neighborhood. If anyone can do that, it is the present management of CPFC, from co-chairs through the backroom manager. Both the consortium and TP seem to be saying the same things and have similar attitudes towards the future of our club.

If Brazil fails to deliver the Olympics in 2016 the IOC may well ask the UK to step in and deliver the event. We could offer Selhurst as the venue ("Selhurst 2016". We'd need to start pretty soon but could deliver a new stadium worthy of an Olympic venue and move into it afterwards.
Seriously though, I have had discussions with folk in the local cafes/ pubs over the years about everything Palace and on one occassion it was about redeveloping the ground. A good suggestion was turning the pitch ninety degrees to make use of the car park.

Realistically, there's far too much work involved and supporting infrastructure to upgrade. Best to upgrade Whitehorse and wait for the new Crystal Palace to be built at the site of the old one before we move to what is now the athletics stadium below. All the local amenities will have to be upgraded to cope with the influx of visitors to the new Palace. SP said as much in his recent radio interview.

Therin lies the problem -there are about 8-10 houses right behind the Main stand, built on the old Lady Edrdge school site. The 'right to light' for these properties was what stopped Ron Noades continuing the development round from the Holmesdale stand.

two observations :
a. these houses are miles away from the stadium
b. lets colonise them with eagles, slowly over the years we can buy up these houses. I would love to live beside my team - it would certainly make the commute to a game much easier.

Commute to work could be a bitch, though it'd make Sunday and night games easier to get to.

Problems with stands blocking a bit of light an issue but no problem with Jerk smoke wofting through their windows.
With the influx of cash at the club and if they wanted to redevelop Selhurst properly, they could buy the houses on Park Road, Holmsdale Road and build bigger stands and have plenty of room for bars and catering possibly a bit of parking.

I'm sure SP would be pleased to receive your cheque to fund this pie-in-the-sky scheme.

Maybe pie in the sky but not as daft as it sounds. Never going to be able to build the stands any bigger than they are. Can spend money putting in new stands but if it doesn't increase capacity whats the point?.
