Can vaguely recall him from the WC. However, this point about "hitting the ground running".... Can we not afford to be lenient with Murray and whoever else is still around? We're buying to push on, not buying to upgrade something's that atrociously bad.

he looks a seriously good player from what i've seen of him. This confirms interest. And opportunities both to check the player and also discuss the transfer maybe? In his prime at 27, but presumably would cost....a lot!

If he is that good why would Sporting Lisbon want to let him go ? You look at others strikers that have been mentioned and they have a reason to leave, ie. Austin has dropped down a division and Remy is lacking game time.

Perhaps Pardew could convince him (like he's seemingly done with Cabaye) that we're a team on the up, pushing for top 8.

Pardew did say that Palace have been interesred in him for some time, so you never know....
